View Full Version : What car is doing it for you?

I have times, when I suddenly find myself interested in a particular car.

It changes often, sometimes weekly,

Recently I've really had an urge for an S1 Rallye.

I think they are simply stunning.

http://images.pistonheads.com/aimg/1021/1021897-1.jpg

Another car which has caught my attention would be the Ep3.

http://www.todofondosdecoches.com/wp-content/uploads/images/honda-60.jpg

They sound absolutely mental with the right amount of rocket launcher as well.

And the final one,

The beautiful FRP

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/Hatton/IMG_0622Resized.png

Awesome handlers, amazing exhaust note and look special.

So what's tickling your pickle in the world of cars *new, old, super car, hatch anything...

Last time I was after a car, I was strictly after a saloon, main criteria: creatures comforts, more room and enough poke. That was after driving 106s/saxos for about 8 years, cracking little cars but had enough of losing my fillings on UK roads.

Not gonna lie never even heard of them haha.

Edit: I agree those are awesome bet there is some potential there with it been a turbo and 4x4 and there is one on ebay I dont have 5.5k spare.

Not gonna lie never even heard of them haha.

1.7VVT engine, 150(ish?) bhp, LSD, nicest seats in the world, proper little 90's hatch! I'd love one but 90% of the engines now reside in Fiesta's...

I think with me, it depends what I want at the time.

The BRM still 'does it for me' but that might be because I havent driven it in about 8 months.

The new 800 i've recently bought was what I was after, Wafty, comfy and quick enough... but its SO UNRELIABLE.

They're not turbo'd or 4wd though?

Its a blue oval and its rare as shit... £5.5k is an investment!

Can never tell if Dany is trolling with the amount of shit he posts...

Anyway, as D4MJT can testify, I'm craving a Daimler Six at the moment. Massively.

I'm also developing a strange lust for wanting to see what a silver E38 looks like when it's gone up in flames.

Saw this advert recently and it tempts me soo much, definitely the route i'll be going down next.

Big German Roaring machine....

2007 Audi S6 5.2 v10 , 6 speed auto in metallic black.

Massive spec on this car i am sure to miss something but here goes .

Interior.

Black leather with s6 logo embossed.
Multi function steering wheel with alloy paddles.
Carbon dash and door trim.
Mood lighting on all doors and floors front and rear.
6 setting heated seats in the front.
Bose sound system , not sure on the amount of speakers i think about 12+
6 disc changer in glove box with i pod connection and usb stick connection also a/v socket for the screen.
DVD based sat nav.
Bluetooth phone connection.
Front + rear parking sensors with audio alert and visual on the screen.
A/C dual zone front + rear .

Exterior.

Metallic black paint very good condition some small age related marks.
DRL on front ( can be switched of if they are not to your taste )
Matt black RS6 grill ( comes with original S6 grill also )

Engine.

5.2 V10 , same engine as used in S8 , R8 v10 , slightly de tuned for s6 , hence why these are mega reliable
6 speed auto with manual mode on paddles with auto blip on the downshift .
Modified exhaust , was told it was a Milltek when i bought it but cannot confirm this.
Sounds like R8 v10 / Lambo Gallardo unbelievable noise from this car.

Everything works as it should , uses no oil or water and has been 100% reliable car for me.

Any questions e mail me at gumballpaul@yahoo.co.uk

£11250 ono car located in Liverpool.

Got to love a Jag, if I was an old boy I'd have one all day long, it wouldn't suit me. Some right bargains out there as well!

Beast, very cheap for performance! Although, I bet just about everything else about the car is the total opposite!

That's a guy with an RS6 that you're thinking of, twin turbo with MTM goodies, it made 757bhp and 203mph GPS at a VMax event.

The S6 is a lot of car for what you pay for, the car above is also a PH owned car, it would be a good buy.

See the bold. Aside from the sunroof not working, the parking sensors not working, the car only sometimes starting, the rear bushes squeaking like fuck, the odd error message here and there and the remote central locking + alarm not working when other BMW's are parked near it, not much if I'm honest.

Always fun when you go to the BMW stealership to price up a massively overpriced sensor to cure your starting problem, only to remember you're parked in a car park FULL of BMWs so you're now stuck outside your car and when you finally get in, the fucking thing wont start because the ridiculously over priced sensor you just priced up is FUCKED.

I love my car.

I had my eye on a Daimler, it sold maybe yesterday? I'm convinced it's sat on Matt's "drive" aka "street" aka dirt track/path aka random stones and mud in the middle of nowhere, the bastard.

So the hunt continues.

Wow! that sounds like a right mare mate, so you definitely getting shot of it then?

You'd have to find the funny side at the dealership, I think as pissed off as I'd be I'd probably find myself laughing about it, if not in the car park at home after a nice rosie lea.

That's shit, lol

I'm sure you will find another car you want as much. When I was buying this 206 there was one I was really interested in buying before it, cheaper and about 20k more miles, but as this one wasn't for sale and I didn't have all the money for the car at the time I was rather pissed when it sold, and I thought I wouldn't get another but an even better alternative came up.

Finding a decent car is a chore though.

Yeah there aren't that many Sixs available really... This one looked real nice and was close enough.

I was laughing at the dealership yeah, but I had to rush home to pick my mate up as we were going for tea and it was making me late! Anyway, we went for tea and had to park a fair distance away from the place we were going, on the walk there I stood in dog shit, got to the place, realised it was closed... got back to the car, the smell of shit was too much so I abandoned my shoes in the street and went to a pub, in my socks. With a migraine. Yesterday was a brilliant day really. I'm still laughing now.

Theres a really nice S2000 on CL in the other hondas section, its had a facelift conversion and looks so nice!

Nothing gay about either of those, they are a million times better than any French hot hatch, past of present in my opinion.

Anyone who disagrees, I challenge you to drive an S2000 and rev is to 9k and see if you think different.

The soft top is fun in the summer but less so in the winter. I would have a hard top sitting in the garage for winter.

RWD and no traction control means you will end up in serious trouble if you boot the gas round corners in the wet. They are very tail happy but learn the limits and its great fun. Everyone has their opinion but the S2000 is the only car I have owned that I will definitely own again :)

I always compare though. I really want a 320D M Sport (always have) and when I look at fuel consumption on the 2 I always sway towards the BMW.

Pretty sure the Kalos is putting out low 30's tbh, the mrs doesn't realise cars have a 5th gear btw and she drives it more than me these days.

Unless you commute, fuck MPG. I drive for social enjoyment however not for commuting purposes.

Don't see the point in chucking petrol in something that gives you very little enjoyment just because it returns better MPG.

My brain is wired differently though, rather chuck £40 in and enjoy it even though it may only last me about 60-80miles miles than chuck £40 in and get 200 miles of pure boringness.

That's fair enough but atm the rented house I live in needs other things and I can't help but think I would rather get them first and then get a newer car a little later down the line.

Also sorting out the Mrs Freelander so I can have a car back.

No don't get me wrong not having a dig, and it's obviously not the right time to make a new car purchase.

I just personally would never not own a car if I was in the market, due to MPG return if it wasn't a car that would be doing a great deal of mileage.

I also could never let any of my girlfriends past and present drive my car, I'd be worried all day about the safety of it!

I'd say I do about 16 miles there and back. Mostly on B roads but a little bit of dual carriageway. I do make 2 stops on the way to work and it plays hell with my fuel consumption.

Only live once mate, and practicality should sometimes come second place to enjoyment, if it becomes too uneconomical at least you enjoyed yourself for a few month or whatever!

In all fairness, using the cars you've said as an example, your average mpg wouldn't be massively different between an EP3 and a 320D.. You'd probably get 30ish in the Civic, and I'd lay money that you'd see under 40mpg from a 320D over that kind of driving.

My A3 drops to around 40ish on the B roads I use for the last 7-8 miles of my commute.

Only live once mate, and practicality should sometimes come second place to enjoyment, if it becomes too uneconomical at least you enjoyed yourself for a few month or whatever!

I tried that with my MCS, would've probably kept it if my commute was 40 miles shorter overall, but it just cost far too much :(

My Dad has one mate, had it for about 2 years now and I drive it when one of my superior barges breaks or I fancy a run out on a nice sunny day. Had to use it for a week once when it was wet and miserable and that pretty much killed any of my love for them. It was a dreadful experience.

Yes, he had to sell the BMW and buy a convertible to try and overcome the stench of hideous dog shit emanating from his feet. You can spot him most nights flying round 'boro trying to stay in VTEC to maintain sufficient airflow to blow away the smell, whilst trying to find a drive-thru where he can score a parmo.

Yeah was just a little joke there, I really do want one but like I said would need to test drive one first as heard too many people say they have changed there minds once driving one

You do realise how different the 530D will be from a Clio 172/182?

I can see you putting the EK9, DC2 and Clio RS into the same category but a 530D??

I don't get why people love the 3.0D in the BMW?

Yeah they have torque but the cars weigh a shit load so handling pants and the MPG is not as good as people expect.

I would rather have a 182 doing 30-35mpg than a 530D doing 40mpg....

I'm the export manager for a family-run freight forwarding company and at the start of the year we acquired a new client moving huge volumes of freight from Texas to Port Harcourt, Nigeria. It's safe to say that wages have risen accordingly! However, so has the work involved. Amazing how life can just change at any given moment! That's the thing with Scoobies they're killer to run in pretty much every aspect. My mother had 3 and I remember her shelling out ridiculous amounts. Yeah Liquid yellow is a winning colour lol.

You'd have your work cut out finding a decent rot free one, but yeah they can be made quite fast for not bank breaking money, thing is though, if you got one and ploughed money in to making it fast you'd end up wanting to make it mint mint and ending up spending shit loads, and come selling time would have to split it to get your money back!

Pug's alright thanks, well saying that, that's a blatant lie lol. Had coilovers fitted early this month or maybe late last and 3 wheel bolts were either not tightened or not present and a rear wheel came off, caused paint damage, (since rectified) ruined the tyre & spacer and now the car feels like shit. Need to get the tyres bought & spacers then the torsion adjusted and alignment doing.

Cars looking alright though, clean but needs a few bits doing to be mint mint.

207 GTi's are under the radar but can be made quick, but you'd need to find one that doesn't have any issues. That's turbo'd, and look good. Everyone dismisses any Peugeot since the 205 GTi/106/ Gti-6, so it's nice to show them how 'slow' the cars really are.
