Do the usual checks on it. jack up, check play, is it rubbing on the arch etc

Yeah it does pretty fucked to be honest, I would say it's a gonner. Jack up the rear and grab the wheel at 12 and 6 and rock it back and forth, see if there's any movement, I'm guessing there will be. Have you noticed a sort of 'wandering' effect when cornering?

Im axles will be your best bet, they are an affiliate on here. iirc it will be approx. £300, maybe less for a drum beam

Yeah i'll get it on the jack & check that, haven't had rubbing in the arch.

I'll give it the usual checks, haven't really had much trouble cornering, but i'm only a new driver and this is pretty much all i've driven since passing my test so that's probably something i wouldn't notice but a more experienced driver might.

Would be tempted to go for a disc beam depending on how difficult they are to fit as i may put a bigger engine in in the long term. Also wanting to get it lowered at some point so I don't know if it would be convenient to get the torsion bar lowered whilst/during dealing with swapping axles.

Cheers for the replys btw :y:

Just seen a rear disc beam with discs + apex shocks for £100 ono apparently the guy thinks there is no play in the trailing arms & that it's in great nick, oh and it's lowered 60mm + is local, what do people think, should I get it or could it also be defective orrr? Hmmmm

They're all in great nick with no play ;-)

I'd only buy a 2nd hand beam again if I could see it on the car first, or it had proof of a rebuild dude.

That's kinda what I thought lol, think it might be on the car, if it is ill do a camber check and get it on the jack and check for play if the seller won't let me then ill leave it I think
