Currently thinking about making the switch from BT to TalkTalk.

BT have been useless for months, and the bill just keeps on increasing towards the end of the contract.

TalkTalk have some offers on at the moment, just interested to hear people's thoughts on their Broadband and TV (YouView box specifically)

Thanks,
JAM

Don't.

Any particular reason there?

Don't.

As above, terrible customer service, make promises they can't keep, complete waste of time.

As they say with car parts you pay cheap you pay twice.

They are cheap for a reason.

All my personal opinion obviously, I'm sure there are people out there who haven't had any problems but thought I would share my experience with them.

As above lol.
Used to have them when it was tiscali, then we got swapped over to talk talk.

Poor customer service
Poor internet connection, kept dropping out and too slow to stream
Anything.
Pain in the rear to cancel them too.

We went with Virgin afterwards, they've been fantastic.

Don't I put up with lies talk talk say daily being an openreach engineer

Example: Yesterday I arrive to setup megafast or whatever they call it broadband. Arrive and no line at premises. Think to myself oh well I'm not gonna let a customer down I'll just install the line too. The property had never had a line and was underground fed I tried to get a line in but turns out it needed the road digging up.

I went inside to chat to the customer to be shown text messages from talk talk saying they had been to survey premises and there was a line there - total lie! This customer will be delayed a few weeks yet talk talk could have booked us to get it all done in time as they had 3 weeks notice!

This happens daily with them!

I was on BT option 2. 8Mb, unlimited downloads

price crept up to £23.99 a month!

So I phoned them and told them it was too expensive.

They lowered it to £15.99 and "enabled" ADSL2+ on my phone line so now I'm 20Mb. :y:

Again don't, I was with tiscali when they moved to talk talk, call centres all abroad, they can't help you most of the time cos they either can't understand you or you can't understand them, plus they just read off the screen so if it isn't on screen they just hang up on you. Their prices are expensive too as they cap your limit and you pay alot more for going over. I hate them with a passion they even double charged me at least every three months, so you call up ask why, they say we'll refund you and give you a free month then you wait months for this to happen.

Personally I was with sky after them and I didn't have one issue with them always a constant connection fairly good speed although ain't really down to them, and their service was pleasant

Internet.....well that stopped working months ago, will they come out and sort it...no they wont. had to resort to pinching some poor fuckers internet off the street lol.

One word.. Shite!

Moved from them to BT fibre-optic and no comparison. Was barely able to stream a movie or football when with tiscali/talktalk

Im with them, pay 11.60 a month for free calls and unlimited broadband (about 8mbps line with a fairly decent ping) including line rental. I must admit the reliability has been decent and I really cant moan about the price., although the customer srrvice is grim as fuck. Ive a glaswegian accent which doesnt help, but their c.s. team are basically asians on the phone who cant understand the most basic of sentences.

If you are on adsl which I assume you are I'd go with plusnet without a doubt.

Agree with this.

At the end of the day, the length of the copper is not going to change between providers so in theory they should all be able to offer the same speed, even though they often don't!. I would pick the one with the best customer service and this seems to be Plusnet based on reviews.

If your local junction box has had the copper upgraded to fibre from the exchange, you may get a half decent speed.

I would still have Virgin fibre over any ADSL providers but that's purely based on speed. If Plusnet and virgin offered the same speeds, I would go with the former.

Ive got sky and my speed is piss poor, they told me of they can't get it above 5Mb then I cancel. Wait there if you can't provide me it via Adsl then neither will anyone else.

Actually sky are pretty shit in places since they took over o2, a friend was getting 8mb, had a line fault, and now he an only get 0.5 as that's all his line can do, he's had a constant 8 for 5 years!!!!
