Hey there,

Did change my oil and oil filter today. I have the kind with the black blastic cover and the paper filter inside. However, when I removed the old filter there was still a lot of oil in the lower half of the black canister and the old filter also missed the long stick thing attached to it. Turned out that it was still hiding in the oil and sticking in a hole in the bottom. After I got that out, most of the rest oil could finally drain off but even then, when it stopped, there was still a significant amount of oil left. Is that normal?

I find a bit left in the bottom of the filter housing, not loads, could use paper towels to soak up the rest next tune you change it. No need to worry though, all is well!

that's fine. If you're really bothered, one thing you can do is flush with some new oil then refill.

There is a second drain nut just above the oil sensor under the black canister. Remove the oil sensor before you undo the nut because it tends to leak onto the sensor otherwise.
