Machine polisher etc

I've got a blue transit and I can imagine it coming up a treat with a nice detail and machine polish. It's an ex british gas van so you can see vague outline of the old sign writing at certain angles. Quite a few scratches/ swirl marks also.

Can someone recommend me a fairly mid range but decent quality machine polisher? What else do I need? pads/mops? Cutting compound? Polish? I'm sure at first it would have to be quite aggressive.

I've been in to keeping my vehicles clean and hand polishing/ sealing/ waxing etc, but have no knowledge on machines at all.

Ideally would like to spend around a ton on everything.

I have a DAS6, its been great to work with giving great results in a fairly decent time.

However, rotary ftw. Much quicker and youd need to be a spastic to strike through the paint.

DA6 pr0 lad here too. You'd have to be a complete retard to mess up the paint up.

i got something similar to that one on the ebay link and its fine to me but as said the pads and polish you get with it is shit i have spent money getting the right stuff and tbh you can get a good deal on a decent polisher with decent pads and polish rather then get a cheap thing and have to spend money to get the right polish…

A mate of mine uses the silverline one from toolstation, it's a rotary and only £41. I know he upgraded all his pads but he done a really good job on his transporter with it. Might be worth considering if just occasional use?

Fair shout mate, I myself will be going for a das 6 pro sometime this year. Heard nothing but good reviews about the das6 and das6 pro.

Jtf have some in at the moment for £15, my mate got one under my advise before spending quite a bit on one and he hated it. You need the patience of a saint and it gets very boring quick!!

I would recommend getting the Scholl Concepts Purple, Blue and Orange pads.

To begin with, I would get onto the detailingworld forum and read some of the guides on there. Then I would look at as many youtube videos as you can before even thinking about buying one.

People think they can just buy the kit and start doing it, which is likely going to lead to a shit job or ruining the paint work.

If you are going to invest, take the time to learn how its done properly and just get a rotary. People buy a DA when they want it to be easy and the results are generally not as good.

I think as long as you read up on it and use decent stuff, theres no reason a DA cant produce good results in a short time frame. This is a pic of when I did the mrs 106, using a DAS6 and Menzerna pads and polish, still had to go to a finishing polish too. Took little time considering the nick of the paint after her brother washed the whole car with a bug sponge - one of those things that just looks like a big brillo pad.

Its worth it. All i done was watched a couple of vids, made sure i used the right pad/compound and cracked on. No fucking around here.

That was one go with a medium pad and PO203S Menzerna polish :) once Id done that, switched to a softer pad and polish. Waxed it and the whole car looked like the right half of the picture.
