I only ever see them with the bonnet up, but I really do quite like them, they can be had for 3k, and I'd imagine they're a lot of fun to drive.

Anyone have any experience of them? Preferably owning/driving, net being bummed in the back of one :y:

Yeah mate my dad had one. Beware of the dodgy "Chocolate" transfer boxes, look for any manual boost spring mods or the 1 bar hack with the vacuum pipes coming from the head (Google them you should find them easily) as these are typical bodge mods and you are risking it imho with a bodged older jap turbo. Get a good running one and you will be smiling! A fairly similar feeling car to a scoobs bar the chest shaking exhaust note from the boxer

scary cars - great fun though.

we worked out his mpg can be as bad a £1 a mile lol.

They can be fun to drive, when they work.

You'd be hard pushed to find a reliable, well kept example, nice cars though - reminds me when I was growing up seeing a black one steam past me everyday

Find a good one, pay a premium for it, and keep it as good as you get it, and it won't lose much, if any money. Getting hard to find good 1s these days. In fact, its getting hard just to find them.

Mine was as reliable as a swiss watch. Never got launched so had no box issue's, was set up on a RR to run safe boost and had the supporting mods to cope. Drove it hard, done a trackday, and it never broke down.

It was only 313bhp, but by fuck it was insane. Nothing can hook up like a Pulsar and not much will hassle 1 without a considerable amount more power.

like most 90s Jap stuff tbd, well kept and standard they are very reliable. But many have changed hand a lot and suffered bodge mods.
