Power steering and electronics problem

Hello. Before i start i have to apologize for my english, im not from UK. So month ago ive bought Saxo VTR 2000' with unfunctional power steering. The previous owner didn't care about it so i don't even know where the problem is. On the way to home ive noticed something weird with the dashboard. The hands on the speedometer and tachometer started to fall down, then they got stuck and after a while they hopped again and started to work. It usually happens when im on 3rd gear and on a neutral. Also my front sidelights are not working. And my rear right light is not working, even though the brake light works. I tried to replace the whole light with the new electroninc desk and nothing changed. Before week, there was a problem with my starting, so i checked my battery and there was no destilated water in it, so i refilled the battery and my starting was ok, but my lights on dashboard stopped working, so i don't even know how much do i drive fast at night. Please, any help would be so great! :( Greeting from Czech republic to all Saxo owners!

Get your alternator tested first and go from there mate.

Kay, i will, and if the alternator is not the problem? Any ideas mate?

Do the simple checks like fuses loose plugs,breaks in wiring/bad earths etc.

Okay, I will asap. :) However, the lights on dashboards lights on 50% when i press the break pedal. Kinda weird, im going tommorow to check it, so i will inform about any progress. :)

A dashboard lighting up when you press the pedal is caused by a bad earth mate,or the wrong bulb being fitted ie a brake light bulb.:y:

Hmm.. Today another person told me that it may be alternator causing those problems. However, bad earth maybe cause the problems about the rear lights and sidelights. But what about the power steering? Can bad earth make this not working? :) Im a young driver, I dont know much about cars mate. :)

Yes a bad earth can affect the pas,also under the battery tray at the front there is a grey relay which controls the electrics for the pas.These often break down.

I think the relay should be ok, my uncle checked all the fuses, even the relay and electric input to the pas, all seems to be ok. So i think on monday he will take my car to the workshop and check all the electronics. Lets hope its going to be a small and cheap repair :)

Wow, i have noticed something weird. When im driving, infront of me under the hood i hear a weird sound, and i feel like the speed is lowering. I don't know how to describe that. And then the hands on the dashboard goes crazy, after like two minutes they go back again and that i do this again. :( Im so confused, yeah, and i can't even lock the boot, its just not working. Help me please :/

Hello there. Yesterday was a sad day. I finally bought the new alternator. I went to the service station and they replaced the old alternator with the new one. Nothing happened. Everything is just same as before :( Help!
