Got my V11 in a few weeks ago and taxed the VTR tonight for 6 months. Says on the V11 reminder that it should be £96.25 for 6 months and £170 for the year which is up a few quid from 6 months ago. Went to pay online and it's £99.99. If car tax is based on emissions why does it go up nearly £4 in a matter of two weeks? Can anyone enlighten me?

I got my tax for my mk1 vts today and it was £126.50 for 6 months.. I believe a mk2 VTS is £155 for 6 months this year! Road tax is expensive considering the shit state of the roads and poor traffic management around road works...

car tax going up, despite the fact that they are getting rid of the whole tax disc thing to save money, and will gain a months tax everytime someone sells a car in the future.

Do you know why the government put it up? Because people in this country either refuse, or are simply unable to give up their cars so they pay whatever Vehicle Excise Duty price they set. I dare say theyd get away with setting all cars tax to at least 300, no problem.
By the way, road tax hasnt been spent on roads for a long time, thats why its VED now.
