Hi been thinking has anyone ever had a standard vtr on a rolling road after 10 years or 80k lets say to see what the bhp would be?. Would be interesting to see if its lost any. I know theres a lot of factors like how its been looked after etc just wondering.

if its been looked after well, not abused much, i wouldnt say a lot at all....

if its just been rag around, not cared for i would say about 1-2 bhp a year loss

A service wouldn't fix bhp loss.

Darn sight more factors involved than simply a good service.

End of the day it's down to how the engine has worn, what compression it makes, how well the valves seal, how well the rings seal, how is the injector spray pattern, what's the condition of the induction system, inlet, throttle body, is it breathing well enough etc etc. ie: just drive it and see how it feels

I took my gti on a rolling road around my area that seems to have a reputation for being reliable, 115k miles with a supersprint 421 and pugsport and made 134bhp :) all depends on how it's been looked after

Personly I don't think the bhp really matters unless its a track car, as long as it drives well and feels right that's all that matters. Tbh I rag the shit out of mine on a daily basis and its still nippy and responds well but it is well maintained and serviced regularly so that helps.
