I use one of these. Be carefull you don't tear the boot though.

Take the wishbone off, rather than use a splitter. I found it easier when lining it up when you come to put it back on.

Used one of the splitters the other day made the job so much easier worth a buy :)

no need for a splitter, push the hub in and push the wishbone down, all splitters do is make a mess of the balljoint boots.

am i the only person in existence that just stands on the wishbone to pop the joint out the hub?

Push down first, failing that i just tap it down gently with a hammer.

Blimey, don't need a ball joint splitter for that. As welshpug said, it will just make a mess of the boot. Move the hub a bit with downward pressure on the arm and it should come out. If that fails a light tap with a hammer on the arm when it's in the right place and it should just drop straight out.

cracking off the front wishbone bolt will help, so you aren't trying to flex the bush too, just dont forget to nip it back up when the wheels are on the ground.
