Quick question regarding V5

Quick question guys...

I have sold my car and someone is due to collect it at 1500hrs.

He is exporting the car back to wherever he is from, but he seems to think he is taking the V5 and wants me to sign section 11. Notification of permanent export.

This isn't right is it? He is going back after Easter, but surely he only fills out the new keeper section and I send the rest off?

I'd check the DVLA website for the specifics dude.

I would however, get a receipt of sale written up and signed with a date and time, one copy for each of you, with the amount paid and the VIN / reg number of the car.

That way if anything goes awry you have a receipt as proof you sold it. Take a photocopy of the V5 so you have all the details anyway. If anything goes wrong, and the cash turns out to be forged or anything, you can report it stolen and the DVLA shouldn't issue a new V5 to this chap.

Personally, if it was a sale for export, and you haven't already been paid, I'd be waiting till 9am on Tuesday and having this chap pay the money into your bank in person with you, that way you know you have the cash, your bank has accepted it, and if you have a receipt of sale signed by you both you're in the clear, he's the one exporting it after all, you're selling it, not exporting it then selling it.
