if you look in our for sale section that may be able to help you as a guide - to be honest it depends what condition its in too - it could be ragged

I would probally offer him about 1900, considering it's age.. I would also make sure its had a cam belt change etc before buying it.

modifications dont increase car value, they can even devalue it as it gives the impression its 'ragged'
and i wouldnt pay anything over £2300 no matter what condition it is!

my rims on my pug cost £450 but the car still only sold for £800
if you wait until the morning more people will be here to give you advice
failing that - cloud is on the right track

Any modification to a car will normally devalue it, You lower a car for handling and looks. Now if you want better handling it usually means your driving fast... If he's asking for extra money for the alloys he is a very blind man... Most people tend to want original alloys therfor wont pay any extra for them.
He may say the condition is mint but the thing with cars is you cannot tell how good the condition is until you drive it yourself for a couple of miles.. For all you know if hes been driving it bad the gear box may be on the way out. Get a test drive on it though, saxo's are getting cheaper and cheaper on the market... its a great time to buy and a shit time to sell, so dont offer him over the odds... I'd offer him 2000 max if you really want it and see what he says. I cant personally see him getting more..

considering you got something like this in the for sale section
http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45826
then you can afford to change the alloys
Id go for just standard vtr alloys - subtle is the way forward apparently

2800 is very expensive
yatesy was/is selling avery nice and reelly well looked afer saxo for just a bit more then that that was on a 51 plate and 30 somthing thousand miles
id say no way more then 2000
id just look at usual car problems
make sure theres no signs of crash damage

if i was u id look on autotrader u could get a really nice vtr even a ph.2 one for 2600. Personally i wouldnt wanna buy a modified car with this sort of mileage, i can just see it having loads of problems. Buy a standard one then u will feel really proud wen u do wot u want to it!

Why not buy a standard VTR then do sum subtle mods to it.. The way things are going with saxo's at the moment you will b able to pick one up cheap enough to still have some cash left over to spend on the car.. and it's more likely to be in better condition :)
