View Full Version : How much / often do you drink?

Inspired by the smoking thread, how often do you guys drink / spend on drink / what do you drink?

No Bulmers bravado billy big bollocks stuff please, just reality.

I drink some weekends in the summer, BBQ season, the odd beer and a shed load of rum, that's pretty much it, I'd wager I spend less than £50 a year on booze for myself.

Chris_O
27th April 2014, 09:36
I would say I spend about £50 on beer and wine every month for the house.

Probably have a beer or 2 most evenings as I just enjoy it, obviously not drinking to get drunk.

And I reckon in an average month I might go out 3 times and have a fair amount to drink, at a rough guess I would say I spend £50 on alcohol a time, not including other expenses such as food, taxis etc.

So that equates to around £2400. I've never really even tried to calculate it before, but that's surprised me. That's quite a fucking lot in reality!

Only drink os speical occasions's i.e. birthday's, holiday's etc.

When I drink I do spend a fortune so that's why I probably don't do it as much any more.

Hardly ever really. Dont drink during the week, and then weekends, normally drove back home on the friday, once in a blue moon il have a rum n coke when I get back in, if I take missus out im always the driver, and if we go out and get taxi, 95% of the time ive got to drive back to portsmouth on the sunday, so wont have any.

But like you a few bbqs over summer I will have a few.

It doesnt help that Darlington and Portsmouth are shit holes, and Id be gutted to wake up knowing ive spent 80 quid with nothing to show!

Now and again. I like a good ale/stout with my tea after a shit day at work.

It's very rare that I get trollied though.

0rang3peel
27th April 2014, 09:55
I think I probably drink 4 nights of the week, Two of these will be big booze ups and the other 2 just 4 cans or a bottle of wine watching TV with fam/mates.

I make my own wine, cider and beer so it does help keep the costs down so I'd say I probably spend about £100 a month on booze.

Very seldom, will have a couple of bottles of Kronenbourg watching Match of the Day occasional weeks, otherwise Ill go to the pub every few months with a mate I used to kick about with. In fact I drink so seldom I went to a mates wedding the other week, had a champagne while toasting, and a pint, and I felt half pissed.

I probably go out once a month.. Will buy a 70CL bottle of vodka for pre drinking at someones house.. Depending on how long we are there, 3+ hours, i will usually finish the bottle, and then head to town, usually spend £40-80 in town after that..

If i go away somewhere to go out, i won't get smashed because i like to know i can find my way back to where i am staying, or find my friends if i go for a wander or get chatting to someone else.. Probably still spend £50+ but won't pre drink much..

At least here, i know if i get absolutely wankered, i'll bump into someone who will bung me in a taxi home, or i know a lot of the door staff who will just send me on my way, or even ring me a taxi to the door

I don't get that... I have a bottle of newcy brown because it tastes nice, in the same way I have a coffee because it tastes nice. Also helps some people unwind, doesn't have to be just to get smashed.

I only drink Bud or Desperado's because I'm boring I go through stops and starts with drinking tbh... I bought a big box of 20 Bud's as they were on offer but haven't got foggiest when I did so I can't be drinking that much.

Think the last drink I had was 2 or so weeks ago. I can't drink heavily either way as I'm epileptic and on anti-consultants because of it. Feels a bit shit at times tbh :(

Dinner is actually the main meal of the day so it can be at any time. It just depends which one if the main meal. If, for example you have a carvery for lunch and a sammich for tea then lunch was dinner. If it was the other way round then tea was dinner

Why not?

In my albeit limited experience, it's preferable to be on the sober side and able to bag the chicks / recount the nights fails to your mates the next day.

This is far harder when you're wankered.

Thankfully I'm far too old to be going out nowadays, I just stay at home and put the world to rights!

That's fair enough if you're on the pull I guess, I consider myself pretty fossil like at 26 and when I go out I rarely go 'clubbing' unless there's something decent going on.

Fair play, personally the nights I've been out sober are usually awful, they always start pretty decent in a few pubs but then when everyones howling, people spread apart and you always end up going to terrible clubs purely because it's a quid a shot of which is no benefit to you.

Wish I did enjoy it though, would certainly be a lot cheaper!

You're allowed your opinion but saying "your borin, no one likes a sober person they just want you for a lift home" is just a dick thing to say! It isn't the case for everyone, apart from you obviously.
Just so you know, "your" is used if you possess something e.g "that's your car". "You're" is just short for "you are". E.g "you're a twat!" :y:

I used to drink all the time, get ruined at the weekends and go to the pub with mates in the week for a social 3/4 pint.

Doesn't interest me in the slightest now, I still go out at weekends a lot with friends who drink and i stick to the water, I have other priorities which is meaning i cut out the drink but i still socialise with my friends...

I don't even miss it if i'm honest, I have a right laugh on a night out and then at the end of the night you have very little competition to take home a tipsy girl of your choice.

I don't need to get drunk or high to have a laugh with my mates.

In the summer though i do drink, I really enjoy chilling out with a drink in the sun with a bbq etc. but going out to get wrecked does very little for me nowadays, however on special occasions i will make exceptions.

in his defense, I've previously felt like been used as the sober, free taxi home. And ended up with rat arsed passengers, "drive faster/that car is slow", "no i don't want to put my seatbelt on my belly's full","hahaha honk honk hahaha", "what does this button do", "this music is shit put radio 1 on", "I feel sick eurrrgh, eerrrrrrrrgglbll let me out quick" etc.

I did not mind being the sober guy but on a couple of occasions had to tell people to STFU or get out of the vehicle, no thank yous and petrol came out of my pocket. It all depends on which friends really, most are decent but some just lose all sense of decency it after a couple of pints.

I normally drive, my friends are fine... I can also assure you that nobody would class me as boring because I don't drink.

Whitevtsshit, if someone literally just sat there, didn't speak but drank, does It suddenly make them not boring?

I don't drink often.

When I do it tends to be a whiskey night. That JD Honey stuff is lovely.

Abit weird theres so litte drinkers on here, its good for the soul and its all about the socializing aspect away from a computer.

Drugs are also good, throw them in there with alcohol and good music, you have the recipe for awesomeness or a big fucking mess, either way, its an adventure.

So drinking is the only socialising aspect you do away from the computer? Sad life if so.

Personally don't drink a lot, and i'm off the booze until my birthday in July now when i'll get in a sorry state from friday to monday and then i'll not drink until i go away on a lads holiday.

Just because people don't drink every weekend doesn't mean that there not socially active and sit at their computers all the time, however there a few people who trap themselves in a room behind their computer on this forum.

Me and my mates do random shit all the time paint balling, go-karting, casino, football matches, snowboarding, out on the bikes, buy scrappers off my dad and destruction derby them on my mates field all-sorts which doesn't need to involve beer.

I still go out most weekends and don't care much for drinking, I have done plenty of times before and I will do plenty of times in the future.. it just doesn't have to be every weekend. My mates are a good laugh and i'm not reliant on alcohol to have a good time.

Granted it's good to have a good knees up, but having some self control makes it that much more worthwhile when you go away with the lads or have a special occasion.

I hate to say it, but I'm quite a big drinker.
Never used to be though.
If I go out I'll usually buy a 70cl JD bottle for pre drinks and that'll be gone by the time I go out, And still have more drinks when I'm out.
I have quite a problem with it.

To be fair your mum has a small cock, it's like talking with a cigarette in your mouth, by small I mean thin, but quite long, like a fleshy Marlboro

Dean you wouldnt have to spend all that time away if you paid tax ;)

Cant say my mates see me as the fall guy, maybe yours do, but then clearly dont see you as a mate.

Each to their own though, I find it weird that you have to have a drink to have a good time and you think its weird that you can have a good time without alcohol

I used to go out and drink most weekends when I was younger.

Now I have 2 pints of beer and that will do me, maybe the odd Whiskey. Its the Doris' birthday today so I will have a couple of bottles of beer at the meal tonight but that's about it.

Not at all for 9 months of the year, and then during the agricultural show season I absolutely kick the arse out of it. Build up to the big, 4 day Highland show where drinking budget alone is £150 + a day. Then after that its a wind down.

Work all year to be skinny for show season, wreck it in 3 months ;)

I enjoy a drink most weekends, I also occasionally during the week if something is happening. Weddings/Christmas/birthdays/Halloween etc give me pretty much any reason to drink, and I probably will - unless i'm driving, of course.
