hi been searchin the forums but cant c wot i needs as i have a 1.5d 5 door and was lookin to find out if the torsion bar gets weaker in its life cuz if a adult sits in the back of the car it looks as if its been lowered to the max even with a wks worth of shoppin in it lol (when i can afford a big shop) cud it b down to the shocks or would it b the torsion bar gone week and i know most ppl love the lowered look i dont lol if some 1 cud direct me to the thread or give me advice many thanks to all :-)

eh? from what i can make out, most likely the shocks are gone.

sounds normal to be perfectly honest, stick a boot full of crap and 80-90 kilos on the back seat and of course the suspension will drop.

well gunna try new shocks in a few wks if still does the same then ill leave it as dont fancy pullin the axel out lol but thanks for the replys

well lads n ladys found the problem today when my axel came up though my boot floor both inner rear wheel arches gave way n rear axel bent the floor into the boot im glad my kids wasnt in the car but now gunna b broken for parts as a lot of new stuff on the car

how did that pass an MOT? To get to that stage it would have been a failure many years ago

i went bk todayand cuz they put slight corrosion on underbody they say i cant do nuffin not sure if that is true tho

A light bit of corrosion and then there is dangerously corroded structurally which is very much how it sounds, if they passed it and it was that fucked I'm sure vosa will be only too happy to investigate

That's jusy rust on the boot floor. Happens on most cars. I doubt that was a result of the beam issues.
Also not an mot fail.

one of my bars had gone soft, this i only found out when corner weighting it, it jack it up and set the rear the same in the air, (chassis to trailing arm, same point both sides) and when i lowered it back on the floor it sat down one side more than the other...
hours of fun this was...

yep chompy mine is like that both side just not opened out wide but both welds av gone from rear seat hinge to near the bk of body the pics didnt show it very well

seen it happen a few times on road rally cars especially where they've been running too low and twatting off the bump stops, they fold around the beam.
those silly cages bolted to the arch tubs are useless really, wouldn't happen if they used proper jobs going tot he beam mounts.
