I know driving Without tax and MOT is illegal. However, is driving to an MOT station (Pre-booked appointment) legal?
Some websites claim it's illegal but others claim it's legal provided that the car is insured.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

As long as the MOT is prebooked and you have insurance, it is fine.
You must go straight there and then straight to a place of repair afterwards.

It is legal to do that if your vehicle is insured and taxed, better to keep the contact details of the garage you're going to in case you get stopped.
I did alot of research into this and also asked an ex copper who drinks in a hotel I stay at with work. As long as the car is insured and the MOT is prebooked in your name and the cars registration then its fully legal. But you as said you need to drive straight there and then either straight home or to a place or repair.

You dont have to do that much research, its answered very straight forward on the askpolice website.
As the others have said though. You are fine to travel to a prebooked MOT as long as you have insurance. On the way back from the MOT station you are not allowed to park it on a public car park or on the road as this is an offense. Maybe if you got caught doing that to get your tax from the post office then they would be ok at the officers discretion.
as above. If it's booked with your name etc then you're good.

Strangely, its not illegal to drive without tax as long as youre not using it for work purposes. Nor do you need insurance.

It voids your insurance, unless driving to a pre-booked mot.

You can also renounce your birth certificate and all the laws of the land and then Live by common law.

As most people are saying: you can drive without tax as long as you're going to get your car MOT'd and you're insured.
Driving without tax to move the car / test drive the car / when you've just bought a car etc is illegal. If you get caught by a reg reader (like those cameras on the motorway, or a police van at the side of the road), you will receive an £80 fine in the post, if you don't pay it within 28 days, that increases to £1000. If you're caught and stopped by a police officer, they will issue you the fine, but also have the right to impound the car, until you have taxed it, and you'll also need to pay a £200 storage fee.

also, on the topic of wriggling out of paying tax. you can get free tax if you claim PIP (Personal Independence Payment). You can be granted PIP if you have any major long term illnesses or disabilities which affect your ability to work. I read an online article about it once, where someone was claiming PIP for being dyslexic, and pretty much getting everything paid for.

law states you can drive to a pre booked mot with no tax or mot as long as youre insured.. however thats where the law stops. so basically you must then tax the car before it leaves the garage
so if you were caugt on the way home it would be down the copper what happened
