did the old chain snap ? if so then my guess is pretty much bent valves..
any other issues like smoking or lumpy idle or any new knocking sounds ?

if you just replaced it then its probably out of time. check the markings. :y:

Chain didnt snap was noisy tensioner so replaced whole lot no timing marks at all thats why bought locking tool locked cams with plate and pin crank through back of engine turned by hand was fine built back up started it much much quieter than before just bad idle and no power till get too roughly bout 3000 rpm.

id probably wait till you get a better answer but sounds like it could be related
to the actual tension of the chain if its too slack it could be causing it to have play in the positioning of the cams

to me that would explain why when your revving it past 3k its pulling the chain tighter thus sorting it out.

i just dont get why its too slack if you changed the tensioner, as they are auto adjusting. but its only that that you have changed so it has to be related,

are you sure you've plugged in all sensors and not damaged any?

Changed tensioner guides and chain chain all nice and tight turned engine by hand all seemed fine built everything back up then got the lumpy idle and no power after checking all plugs connected rite took down too local garage (no eml light on or any warnings) just too see if came up with fault codes and brought 3 up all too do with throttle position sensor.
If was out of time could this be cause of faults.

yes if the timing's off, it will run like shit or worse.
