following on from muzz's thread a lot of you are renting out properties or have just purchased your own.

If you had the choice of buying a house and either renting it out or live in it where would it be?

i personally wouldn't mind a house just outside london as people who work in london will pay good money to rent a house near by but not actually in london.

I'd buy something either in the highlands, Cyprus or in Extremadura (spain).

If working etc didn't have any factor in it that is.

If i had no restrictions and could find a job I'd move to New Zealand. Probably on the outskirts of Auckland.

I always thought buying property in Spain was risky business.

Isn't the economy over there all to shit (more-so than over here) and there's that thing where if the government want to reclaim land then they can and your house is essentially gone.

Or am I wrong?

I didn't know technicalities were part of this discussion :p

but yes, the economy and the government is fucked over there.

as far as I'm aware, the economy is shit and stands to stay that way for a while. never knew about reclaiming land, i would personal blow my lid if i got a place for it to be reclaimed...

Ive always enjoyed staying in cornwall when on holidays, so probably somewhere around there. On the coast :) but power stations are few and far between down that way.

yeah thats not a bad choice but isn't there an issue to land corrosion down that way?

If I could buy a house anywhere I'd quite like to move back to Bristol, decent night life not to far from my home town, lots of mates there etc

thats fair enough, I'm looking at moving out of kent as tbh its quite expensive so then i can rent out the 2 properties we own (partner and i) to pay for themselves and then we can get a mortgage on a place. not sure where to move to as my job is available in most areas.

Like you, my main problem would be my job which is down here. But once the house I own now is renovated I will hopefully rent it out which will at least cover my mortgage :y:

yeah it sucks, but tbh I'm able to relocate due to me renting out one property and my missus going to rent hers out so we can have a new home. she can relocate anywhere as she works for a big firm and does accountant work so she works from home most the time.

trying to find an ideal place is hard aswell.

In the UK,

Devon/ seaton / exeter or Suffolk/ Norwhich or somewhere like Carlisle Cumbria.

God knows abroad though, like the idea of the south of France.

Yep,

Used to holiday every year in Devon, Seaton, Lyme, Exeter fucking love the scenery, the people and sense of community. Oh and the fact it couldn't be further away from London in every aspect. They also do verrrry naicee pastrys and fish and chips lol!

Sufolk/ Norwhich - ex's dad lives there used to go all the time and just love the place very calm and a lot of nice country walks to be had. Again, in terms of living just miles away from a life in London. Everything is so fast.

Cumbria doesn't need any explanation just go on google images some breath taking views, and awesome selection of wildlife to observe. :y:

No worries mate,

Those are places I'd happily live. I plan on retiring in Devon, hopefully I make it happen.

Somerset is meant to be beautiful too.

tbh I'm happy with a 3-4 bedroom with drive garage and garden in the middle of no where or in a nice estate which is not in a city but near a good town for example

Yep, totally the same.

I like my rural areas but need a decent town/shopping centre. Apart from that stick me in a house in the middle of a forest and I'd be happy.

Norwhich has a great shopping centre and has alot of fields/country walks which isn't as far as say Devon or Carlisle.

Another place I could live which isn't as nice as the others which is only 25 mins from me is St Albans, unfortunately it's near Bedford/Luton however the town is pretty old school and pretty'. You also have Luton/ MK for shopping not too far at all with decent links to London and you can visit places like Dunstable downs for picnics with the missus/fam etc.

Cumbria yes, Carlisle no lol

For me I'd like to have somewhere semi rural, not too far out that I'm totally isolated but near enough to a main centre so I can go shopping etc easily or have a night out and not pay £50 to get a taxi home lol

Somewhere in Northumberland somewhere if I were to stay local, why move anywhere else tbh, best countryside in the country apart from the Lake District, but if I was to move elsewhere maybe Scotland up near somewhere like Inverness as I have family near there in Forres

Internationally I've always wanted to emigrate to Canada, Vanvouver ideally as I have a few extended family members over there and its a beautiful place

What do you think about the pedestrianisation of Norwich city center?

I'll be honest, I'm dead against it.

People forget that traders need access to Dixons.

Although they do say it'll help people in wheelchairs.
