Although he's my Dads Guard Dog, it's the closest thing I have to a pet.
Got him about 1 year ago when he was 3. Mistreated by some scumbags and became quite aggressive and destroyed everything he could get his teeth into.
My old man never gets dogs from pups, he tries to give those that no families will be able to rescue another chance sort of thing. Usually suits them down to the ground as well as they can destroy tyres etc. all day and has free roam of an acre of land at night.
He occasionally will try and bite me/my dad/uncle. So you have to have a bit of 'play fight' with him, make him submit and you're good for a few months.
Can't and won't trust him with anyone else though, he's too unpredictable.

Zara, she's 3 now:

My lovely old girl Amber is the one in the background, she lasted until the grand old age of 13 before we had to get her put to sleep in October last year. Miss her every day.

Dogs are stunning mind aren't they.
My Mrs mother has just bought a mistreated husky that only has one eye as it was attacked by the previous owners other dog. When she went to pay they told her she could have the pedigree papers for another £150. She told them to shove it up their ass as he will not be bread or sold on.

It's an ever growing problem and i'm going to stereotype here but an increasing number of low life, benefit grabbing scumbags are seeing this as an easy cash in hand money making scheme.
Soo many 'pit bull' / 'staffy' type dogs bred around here by tracksuit wearing cunts, it needs controlling more.
Usually have none of the required shots or documentation required and are sold far too young for some quick cash in their pocket.

We've got a fat westie currently, Cassie. She's a puppy farm rescue dawg, so we don't know how old she is, probably about 11 or 12. She can't do much exercise as she has bronchitis / emphysema, but she loves a snooze, especially in the garden. Pisshead.

Bones don't wobble!
Our current three.
We rehome police dogs after they retire (have done for the last 10 years or so) so the two GSD's are both ex-police. Wilf (the darker one) is the latest, and we've had him for almost a year now. He's 6 years old and although looks slim is actually 38kgs.
The other GSD, Samson, is known as "the don" (as anyone who knows me in real life will know!) - he's basically the Matt (Alpha Male) of the house. Really is the godfather of dogs. He's 10.
Both of my boys I refresh their training a few times a week. They bark on command, will hold someone on command (and let go :p), track and search, etc. Wilf is especially good at searches. Samson moreso at bringing someone to the floor - he's a big dog at 40kgs.
Barney (in the middle) is a shaggy coat Labradoodle. He's now 5 and we've had him since 6 months (rehomed from a breeder as he was returned after sale. He's fucking smart - my wife used to run a dog training centre and he was the demo dog. He's now an "assistance dog" helping with stuff around the house as my wife is still struggling after spinal surgery. He can open and close doors on command, fetch individual items you can point to (IE, knows the TV remote on the table VS something else on the table). Can even get stuff out of the washing machine and put it in the washing basket etc as Joanne can't bend down. Epic stuff.
We have a horse as well but don't have any photos of him on my laptop.

There is plenty of room in our house and I only work down the road. I would likely go home and walk him/her in my lunch break. Then in the evening let it roam the fields right by the house as were we live it's pretty rural.

Just to add to Alpha Matt's point about staffy's etc, it's very true, they have a horrible reputation for no reason at all.
I love them, and will have another when Cassie checks out. I had a puppy late last year, called Ruby, and she was utterly awesome, and a great temperament. Settled in really well with Cassie, but as she got more lively and Cassie wanted to run and play with her, Cassie developed lung problems so we have to try and keep her lazy. Sadly that meant rehoming Ruby as she was just too much as a puppy for Cassie really, she just wanted to play all the time. She's gone to a woman who lives near me who already has 2, she's settled in great.
Awesome, awesome dogs staffy's.

Neither is a Collie!! Collies are working dogs. Unless you're prepared to walk them miles and miles every day, and them still be hyper, I wouldn't dream of one as a pet.

Depends on what you're after in a pet.
I wanted something that took relatively little effort to look after and was pretty cool.
Surprisingly, the Boa was quite affectionate. She liked to rest her chin on my finger for a scratch.

2 x Calico cats. Fizz is 13 and a fat fucker, her belly swings when she runs. Bella is 12 and we saved her. At birth her mom never took to her so she needed bottle fed for months. She is extremely small and always gets mistaken for a kitten.
Also have a 19 week old Bichon Frise puppy called Peri who needs constant attention and hates being alone but loves chasing the cats.

Get the toilet training kit I bought, all my cats now shit and piss in the toilet. Saved me a fortune in litter.
Really? cant you explain a bit more about how you managed it as I've seen cats on youtube do it but I though it was pretty rare for them to do it. We get through so much litter its untrue. I can fill an family sized/big wheelie bin in a week and half easy and thats up to the brim with litter

The dad (dexter) is the laziest cat I've ever known, he will literally sleep on our bed from 8am when I leave for work until 5:30pm when I get in from work. Only rising to pee/poop to have his dinner at lunch time, then gets right back in.

It's really good mate, the kit is called littler kwitter:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0014N70QO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1400862547&sr=8-1
Basically you gradually move your litter tray to your bathroom so the cats get used to it being in there. Then you swap the tray for the first part of the kit which is the red tray which stays on the floor and is full of litter):
http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a496/MickSwan/image_zpsb54061db.jpg (http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/MickSwan/media/image_zpsb54061db.jpg.html)
Then after there used to using it, you place it over the bog (still full of litter)
http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a496/MickSwan/image_zps0eda086d.jpg (http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/MickSwan/media/image_zps0eda086d.jpg.html)
After a week or so you move to the amber tray which has a hole in (still with some litter in):
http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a496/MickSwan/image_zpse44e7231.jpg (http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/MickSwan/media/image_zpse44e7231.jpg.html)
Then after after a bit you move to the green tray without litter, which has a bigger hole.
http://i1280.photobucket.com/albums/a496/MickSwan/image_zpsd9d1f3d3.jpg (http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/MickSwan/media/image_zpsd9d1f3d3.jpg.html)
Bobs your uncle, takes about six week to do but once they get it it'll save you a fortune.

Does that stay on the toilet all the time then?
I bet its hilarious watching a cat use the toilet!!

23rd May 2014, 16:49
Yeah, stays all the time. It's a small sacrifice having to move it when you need a shit but it's worth it.
Funny when you just hear 'plop, plop, plop'.

This is Mike - our 8 year old Yellow Labrador. We got him from Lab Rescue near Bedfordshire back when he was ~16 months old and had already been through 4 homes... he can be a pain sometimes but is such a genuine friend. Spends most of his time either on the parentals bed in the sun or on his own sofa. Such a legend and definitely my best mate:
https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2935/14251703392_eea81cccb4.jpg
Also got a couple of rabbits - here's mine... Rosie. I'd imagine she's a cross breed as we got her from Pets at Home but she's beautifully marked and obviously got Dutch in her somewhere along the line. She's very independent and will have stroking, cuddles etc on her own terms, but I love her. She'll be 3 in July IIRC. Not a brilliant picture, but:
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5515/14251706212_c3cef03d73.jpg
And lastly Rupert, an RSPCA rescue that we've had for a little over a year IIRC. Thick as shit, but he makes me giggle. We don't know how old he is, but at a guess, probably 2 or 3. He 'apparently' was found roaming the streets, but how true that is, I don't know. Got a sneaking suspicion the previous owners handed him in with a cover story, but hey, their loss is our gain. At least they didn't turn him into Sunday lunch:

Some really lovely pets in this thread, Loving all these pictures and explanations!
Always been around them as my mum has been a veterinary nurse for 18 yrs, So hand-reared / recovered alot of animals!
I have alot of pets so won't list them all haha!
But I have 2 cats (Sisters) that I hand-reared from 3 days old due to mother cat dying. So they are really really affectionate and climb all over me when I come back home!

Yeah sugar gliders really are amazing.. But do take up alot of time.
Have to blend 1 months worth of food with added powders to right calcium : phosphorous ratio (2:1), and have 'protein days' and need to be played with at least 2 hours a day (night).
They cost alot anywhere - but look at prices of pups. These are exotic marsupials and make fantastic pets - so worth £500 a pair in my eyes :)
D4 - I love all my reptiles just like cat's and dogs :P
The purplely spider is a bird eater and around 7-8'' leg span :O

Twpsyn is a bit of a jack the lad and is always out with his cronies whilst Sooty just sleeps on my bed and shits in my washing pile.

Looking at getting a dog towards the end of the year.
I had a cat called sooty, was 18, sone cunt with a springer let his dog off the leash two days in a row attacked the cat on Saturday, killed him Sunday, he no longer walks his dog on my street. Prick.
Anyway currently have a German Shepard, boarder collie, jack Russell and another cat

No love for reptiles? Or is it mainly the spiders / scorpions?
I find them highly interesting - ever watched a scorpion eat? It's like something off alien vs predator haha
Most tarantula's are WC aka wild caught, and literally you could put your finger on their fangs without getting bitten - they're so calm and docile even with no previous human interaction.
Plus some have amazing colours! :P

They are intresting, just depends what people are used / in to
I'm only handling the 'safe' ones wouldn't risk it with a really venomous one obviously! But even if you did get stung off one of them in the picture it wouldn't be life threatening..
people who have been stung describe it as being hit in the hand with a hammer with throbbing for 20 mins. So wouldn't be good but until I get hit i'll keep testing my luck haha!
