Gear changes

I've got a 53 plate Saxo and it has had new gear linkages but the gears still feel sloppy and I can waggle the gearstick a good 3 inches in neutral and every gear. is this a common problem? is there anything I can check? thanks!

If you do a quick search on here or even google, you should find that yes it is a very common problem and you should find somewhere on here the solutions as it can be a few things
