Hi this is worrying me, I have flushed, refilled and bled the system exactly how Haynes says to. New thermostat is now fitted and was going to replace the temperature sensor but the replacement is the wrong size. So cleaned the old sensor with a cloth as oil muck was on it and re fitted and re plugged back in.
When i ran the engine its been running for about 5 mins now and the engine is getting very hot and fan has not kicked in yet. So switched off the engine for now. During the engine running just to ensure no air is in i opened the bleeders again and coolant runs out with no air bubbles. Except the radiator one the fluid is at the top but not overflowing.
What should i do? how long do you run the engine very hot before fans are ment to kick in? The fans were ok before. The coolant i used was ready mixed 5ltr bottle and its all been used but the tank has it held quite high so not loosing it.
Thanks need the car back running today

Do you have a temperature gauge or just a light?
I'd run it until the fans come on. You can confirm the fans are working by bridging the connection on the fan switch.
If you notice the light come on the dash as a temperature warning, switch it off immediately and then re-asses.

temp light mate and it has not come on. restarted the car and going to let it run on idle hopefully until fans kick in. The fans were working prior to change. then ill check fan by bridging. How do I bridge it? Thanks for all your help hopefully I can get it running today.
Something I have just noticed now is the reservoir tank coolant level has risen from 3 quarters to nearly at the top is that a sign its working?
Idle is idling ok no issues with engine running.

so even though the bleeders to me have been bled and are on tight now but leaving the tank cap off any air in will escape from there?
Thanks

no temp light on but looking inside the fill tank the coolant has big bubbles rising to the surface.
Is this a good sign? and the top and bottom rad pipes are hot now
Just giving you a live feed lol

If you have bubbles coming through then it's not bled properly. You'll need to bleed it through properly.
Take it for a quick drive, then come back and bleed it again. Do this about 3/4 times and then check for bubble again.

Hi OK in that time the fans kicked in the out three times like it should!!!. Good? The level went quite low but not not lower than the min. Turned it off to cool then will drive it. When I checked it before turning off couldn't see bubbles just steam.

Prior to first run the thermostat bleeder bubbled but then leaked coolant like a tap same with the heater matrix one

Sounds like you're on to a winner :)
I'd give it a drive then try bleed again just to be sure. Then top up and you're done.

Thanks so much for your help really apprishiate it so prompt as well. Drove it home ok (about a 15 min drive) no temp light appeared but when i got it home ok the engine was running 15 mins prior to setting off but its very hot now you can feel the heat when you open the bonnet. The level at that time was a bit above min level from high before but my dad says thats normal once its just been replaced.
Provblem is im working in the morning tomorrow but put on order two 1ltr ready mixed coolant (the same stuff as the 5ltr)
When i do the topping up and re bleeding when is that best done, while eingine is:
on or off?
Hot or cold?
Thnaks again :clapping:
