Let them down gently as possible which normally results in them calling me a prick etc. and then move on to some other girl see them a handful of times and then repeat the cycle again.
In all honesty, and jokes aside, I think I'm just getting old, because I really couldn't be fucked with that all the time nowadays like.
Basically though, you're going to die fat, lonely, and alone. Soz x

Can't say I 'want' to, hence not giving one a try in soo long. Think the longest I have done recently is about a month. Seeing each other about 3/4 times a week and that felt too imposing.
Just personal preference I guess but strange as all my friends are in relationships and do A LOT of things as couples as they all get on. I'm normally cut out of these activities as i'm never with anyone long enough to make such plans.
Thats my main issue to be honest, as the more my mates are under the thumb the less i see them.

i used to be like that matey and I'm sure 90% of the lads here were at one point and you do one day change, from my experience i didn't realise i had till my mate pointed out that i was getting committed etc, going on holidays, getting our own place....
my best advice is don't try as it happens naturally, well it did to me :y:

That's fair enough, but obviously not really a good basis for getting into a relationship lolz.
With regard to relationships, me and the wife have some similar interests, but mostly we're just really really good mates. We've been together for 7 years now, and inevitably you have good times and bad times, being good mates is pretty much the most essential requirement for a long term relationship I think. It makes it easier when she's doing my tits in :y:

How on earth have I been dragged in to this AGAIN.
I'm going with Gab's theory of TOO ALPHA.
Basically, you obviously feel the need to have a harem of women to sow your seed far and wide and show these pussy beta males that you can have all the women and that YOUR milkshake brings those bitches, even Kelis, to the yard, because it's fucking ALPHA MILKSHAKEEEEEEEEEEEE

How do you do it??
Even when I find a girl that has a great personality, shares interests and hobbies, good company etc. and very physically attractive I find myself reluctant to give a relationship or any form of commitment a go. Let them down gently as possible which normally results in them calling me a prick etc. and then move on to some other girl see them a handful of times and then repeat the cycle again.
Anybody else the same or been the same?
I'm 25 this year and since my last proper relationship about 3 years ago I can't get out of this habit. Is it a phase i'll grow out of or am I going to get old and lonely as I can no longer lure girls into my bedroom due to my wrinkly old balls and liver spotted skin?
Relationships dont happen, it takes alot of time and effort, if your not willing to put in that graft because your to wrapped up in yourself then you will be lonely.
My wife can be a titwump but she's still my best mate after 13 years and she's had to put up with me never being home for the last 10, fair play to the nutter.

I have had several 3 month to 1 year relationships over the past 6-7 years and they have all fizzled out. Even during them I got bored easily, got home from work and couldn't be arsed to see them so made up excuses not to.
Then I met Jemma (my current girlfriend) and after a few months of dating etc, I knew this was going to be it for me. We have been together 10 months and currently saving for a mortgage which will be another 18 months or so. I have one day to myself each week and see her all the rest and not a day goes by that I don't look forward to seeing her.
I think you just have to find the right person and for me, I know pretty quickly!

I moved out at 20, I moved out 2 months after having my daughter, we moved into a nice flat together and managed fine. I did however plan ahead and as soon as I found out we were having a child, I put as much money away each month as possible so that we could move out. During that time of saving I was still paying rent to my parents.

Was with my ex for 4 years before she decided she wanted an upgrade.
That lasted about 6 months and she's now regretting it. Ah well.
I miss being in a relationship but then again I'm enjoying being single and fucking about. I missed out on that when I was 18-22 so making up for lost time.
Just don't actively seek someone, if I look for a girlfriend it'll never happen. It's the random encounters in bars or every day life that normally lead to the best relationships.

So many people seem to be in this mind frame that they must have a relationship and it's like a mad fucking race to meet someone. People actively go out looking for companionship which I find the strangest thing of all, as if you enjoy your own company, company of friends and family so little you need to introduce someone else.
I was with my ex for 3 years, but we remain very close friends and pretty much just split due to distance & our careers (mainly her's #child prodigy)
I find it mental that people consider marriage after like 2 years, that's completely insane, no wonder the values of marriage are in total tatters and pretty much meaningless these days.

28th May 2014, 14:19
Honestly even that is too much commitment, tried that and it went well for about 6 weeks and then she was digging more and more into who and what am i doing etc. Had this arrangement on several occasions and each time it starts to feel more and more like commitment as time goes on.
Have someone that I can just get around to bounce, but when it's on a plate like that i find myself never calling her. I think half the satisfaction i get from being single is the thrill of the chase.
Once I have a girls attention I lose interest, I don't mean to and it annoys myself sometimes as I end up pissing them off to the extent they want nothing to do with me and think i'm playing games.
I mean this in the nicest possible way Alpha Matt, but you sound like a bit of a bellend who is a bit self absorbed?
Are you ashamed of yourself and what you do, and is that why you don't want a girl to dig around and get to know you?

Exactly the reason for this thread, I had no issues with it when i was 18-19, it's all part of being a young lad but at almost 25 it's something I should and would of liked to have outgrown.
I am terrible for overthinking and I think that's my main issue, I constantly think what limitations a relationship may put on me such as career path, moving abroad etc. I just don't fully know where I want to go in the future just yet and I don't think that helps.
I don't do the single thing to bang numerous girls, I find myself liking company as and when it suits me. Sometimes I don't want any company in the evenings for a week or so and i'm just genuinely not talkative and have to force myself to reply to texts etc. This also makes it even harder as I appear to be soo hot & cold.
Definitely not self obsessed and I have nothing to prove to myself or others, i'd rather just get out of the mind set though and at least be open to seeing where certain things go.
D4MJT
28th May 2014, 14:41
In that case worry not, you're just a busy chap with enough on without the commitment of a relationship to boot.
If at some point you find yourself more settled in future, maybe it'll be something you're more interested then. You don't NEED to be in a relationship before you're 30 or anything :y:
