I have just installed my Alpine CDA9857R head unit with a MRP-T220 two channel amp (for the front speakers) and an MRD M300 amp for the sub. The two rear speakers are just working of the amp in the head unit and are wired in the usual fashion.

The problem I have is that when I switch the head unit on it makes a loud 'shock' like a bang the moment i press the power button as if a surge is either going to the speakers form the head unit or the amp.

I thought it may be a remote start issue but I have tried wiring it to the remote antenna and the remote start leads and it still does the same. infact it works without being attached to the remote start cable at all .

Any ideas?

Also the head unit will not turn on automatically when i turn the key. I have to press a button for that.

And the settings such as bass/treble/fade etc all get reset every time I turn it on and i have to re adjust them.

Obviously it's wired wrong. If it pops you may need a capacitor in the circuit. And if you already have one then something may be wrong with it. Double check all your wires for anything loose.

depends on the HU, how it's set etc. Mine is wired so it can play it without having a key in the ignition, but you have to turn it on each time. see next question for why yours doesn't respond

You need to swap the red and yellow wire at the back. Remember to unplug the battery before doing this.
