I have a 1.1 going to be putting some vtr alloys on just wondering if anyone has any pictures of their car lowered 60mm? As I'm thinking about getting mine done....is the ride ok? Cheers in advance

The ride will be poor.

I have no idea how low that one is lol
Are you just using springs on standard shocks? Uprated shocks too? Or coilovers?
It'll shorten the life of your shocks if you lower it on the standards but I was down 40mm ish on my 106 1.1 for a good year or 2 and it was fine. But the ride won't be much better on any height you go

I went 50mm on my vtr but wished I went to 60, I did read a while back some one had 50mm springs on the front an when they put a vts the front end dropped a little more as the weight of the engine, so maybe some think to bear in mind with a 1.1 under the bonnet :/
Good luck

personally i think flat arches look best lowered about 40mm max, I don't know why but they never look right when lowered too much

The ride will be very poor if you just put lowering springs on it, you'll end up destroying your shocks too. If your going to do it do it properly. Kam racing sells a good valued kit which will improve the cars handling dramatically (apex sport). Granted it will be firmer than standard, therefore uncomfortable at times but will be in a different league to using springs on standard dampers.

Any pics of 40mm lowered? How much would a kit cost? Only a 1.1 not wanting to go all out on it

There is a complete thread on here dedicated to showing images of cars lowered to set amounts on different wheels, look in the styling section probably a sticky tbh!!
The kit is 260 I think dude. It's unreal though I've got it on my vtr and it's wicked really happy with it. Some twat had just put 60mm springs on it before using standard shocks and slammed the rear end, it drove like a bag of nails. The shocks were completely fucked.

If your really on a budget you'll pick springs up cheap but I really wouldn't advise it. I definitely wouldn't go below 40mm. Koni do a cheap kit, apex as mentioned earlier are best value for money. Avoid the spax psx and vsx kits. There is a AP sport kit which is quite cheap at £210, no idea what that's like tbh.
I'd get vts wheels over the vtr wheels, 15" will sit better over the 14" vtr's. Plus they look better imo. Just make sure you get the correct wheel bolts for both the Vtr/s wheels as they are flat seating where as standard steelies have tapered ones.

already got the alloys buddy and yeah i noticed with the different types of wheel bolts but have got the right ones.
will have a look at the kits why do you not advise just changing springs?
hope the rear torsion bars not going to be too hard lol

Because your lowering the car your reducing the amount of stroke the dampers can make which leads to the suspension bottoming out on the bump stops. My shocks were fucked due to this, the dampers weren't rebounding after they'd been compressed so the suspension was constantly bottoming out. This in turn leads to other parts degrading at an increased rate.
Haha just lubricate it well in advance. A blow torch and a slide hammer will come in handy.

save a tenner for ass pads, or you'll be sore after a few miles.
