Posting this on a couple of places in the hope that someone might be able to help out!

The car has started making a kind of crunching/screeching sound when below 2000rpm. No idea what it could be, took a video on my phone which I'll upload below.
She drives fine, doesn't feel like anything isn't as it should be and when I looked under the bonnet nothing looked like it could be rattling against anything and making the noise, though I don't know cars overly well.

Anyone got any idea what it could be? Very concerned...

(Excuse the dirty engine bay!)

Thinking about it now, the power-steering felt a little stiffer than usual too... Though I dunno if that's just me finding faults from worrying.

That sounds horrendous.

That's not a problem, German cars don't suffer faults

In all seriousness it could be a pulley or bearing somewhere but the video quality is lacking it's hard to tell

Alternator pulleys and power steering pump pulleys are known to fail

It really does sound horrendous... Even with the bad quality video lol.

I've got it booked in with a garage in a few days so I guess I'll find out then. Thanks anyway guys

Timing chain?

Sump's fucked, causing the engine to drain all oil and generally not like being turned on.
Getting it to a shop tomorrow to (hopefully) fix the hole.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

take the auxillary belt off to rule out P/S and pulleys ect.

That sounds like the timing chain itself or the tensioner/guide is worn causing the chain to whip about in the chain casing. Timing chain is on the gearbox end of the engine if that is where the sound is coming from in the vid, hard to tell. Quite a big job to change as the box has to come off
