SO got some sort of weird problem with gauge. When starting car up sometimes shows on reserve then after about 20 to 30min of driving will solely rise to what is meant to be in tank.
Next problem is where gauge will sit on reserve and light shown however if driving and I cut the transmission and start car again gauge will go to normal level. However sometimes doing this it will shot up then quickly go down even if I know I got half a tank remaining left.
Is the sensor foobard on it and need replacing or do I have a bad earth somewhere.

what's in bold, is totally normal. It's because the gauges are so heavily damped.
I don't understand the second thing you're describing, when you say it goes up then down? Does it go to full then drop and show nothing? and when it shows nothing is the light on?
OR does it read full, then drop to the level you'd expect?

Nope on level surface and also when driving.

It is on reserve light if am driving ill cut engine and restart while moving and goes back to normal levels however when driving around it will or seems to go down super quick and say my tanks empty ill stop transition to car and leave for a few min restart and seems go normal. trying to figure out what the cause of it is. If I get a chance tomorrow ill try getting a video of it in action

I meant, when the needle goes right down, does the light come on as well?
If it does, that's probably the sender.

Got one fitted today seems to of solved the problem. Man their a fiddly fucker to remove the pipes and to also take out the old one without getting fuel all over the back seats lol should of done when my tank was empty not full lmfao but I sort of didnt know how much was left in it due to sender unit being on the blink. Put the new one in not sure if was from another VTS or VTR.
Are these things sort of a universal part among the saxo's or are they all different?

Ok problem still here changed the new unit was working fine for a few days now seems to of gone back to how it was with the gauge going up and down and going back to reserve light and then sometimes going back to normal. However when tank is full gauge comes on and only goes halfway.
Can anyone give advise. Is this poss another unit faulty or more of electrical problem.

Ok so Changed sender unit under rear seats in car working fine for few weeks only to pop up with same problem. This time around fuel gauge moves up n down from full to empty a fee times and sticks on empty. This has gone to it with fuel light remaining off and doesn't come on and then reverts back to showing fuel in car but goes half way up or just over 3/4 full when tank is full. Am guessing this is the gauge. Where would I get one from as most places looked on scrappers no way to tell if has exact problem.

Get a cheap second hand set of clock and go for it. Try VTR ones etc as there's probably more about. Theres sets on ebay for £10.
Plug em in and see what happens, only way you'll find out.

What about miles on clock tho? Can these be reset and put to correct milage on car or does milage and everything else get read from ECU sends that info to clocks on clock?

Any advise on how long to leave battery off for to do ECU reset as going to try this method to reset the fuel gauge and see if this works. Just got a dash for it and still doing the same thing so am thinking fuel sender is fucked from the one I got 2nd hand but it did work perfectly fine for a few weeks and then the problem come back.
Also could this be a bad earth if so where the earth connected to and from to check and try re earthing

The fuel guage doesn't go through the ECU so resetting it won't make ANY difference :homme:
Mileage is tied to the clocks, not the ECU.
I've heard of this EXACT problem before, it got solved. I am trying to find the thread for it. (gauge going up and down 3 times and sitting on empty)
