Hi everyone got a 2000 reg 1.1 saxo it's over 90 thousand miles just wondering if I should be getting anything checked or replaced? No service history or anything so don't know what it's had done..... Car she'll is pretty tidy to be honest bit of rust in the boot that's all car seems fine just needs icv valve replacing had fuel filter changed
Any ideas??
Cheers in advance

Timing belt! I changed mine for what I believed would be ours second belt at 134,000 miles but it was the original belt and was about to snap!
Other than that just change the oil and filter, give it a good service and get a good feel for the car and work out any niggles the car may have!

Change the belts, change the fluids if not done recently. Also change the gearbox oil, it's silly not to as it's so easy even though Psa say they don't need to be changed over the life time of the vehicle you really should do it anyway

Probably needs a full service. Don't bother trying to do the belt unless you know what your doing, your run the risk of ruining the engine.

That's really cheap considering the pump can be a pig to remove

It won't hurt to change the plugs and will give an indication as to how healthy the engine is(by the colour):drink:

Would love mine to reach that lol am I right in thinking the gearbox oil filling and draining point is under plastic arch passenger side on my 1.1? Top one filling bottom draining?

Bolt closest to the front of the car on the gearbox is used to fill it, bolt furthest away is used to drain, both require a square shaped tool, you can also use the hole on top of the gearbox to fill it. :y:

Total 75w80 for the gearbox oil IMO. It's cheap enough not to bother using another brand such as comma etc that work out actually
More and aren't as good

£60 won't even cover the cost of the belt and coolant. As I have said, I had mine done for £170 with fresh coolant, water pump and belt. KrisB.

That's cheap still considering the water pump is 9 times out of 10 an arse to remove

ASDA often has some Castrol on offer. Other than that I get oil from unipart as it's made by Fuchs.
