I have a 2003 vtr and I love it!
Only problem with it is the fuel gauge doesn't work, needle stays in one place (about quarter of the way up) no matter how much fuel is in there! Fuel warning light still comes on when I'm near empty though...
Could this be a fault with the instrument cluster? - I know that is a common problem..

Welcome to the forum Hayley, await the onslaught of forum members asking for pics etc.
Sounds like your problem is more likely to be the fuel level sender, it's basically a float on the pump in the tank. It's pretty easy to take a look tbh, remove the rear seat bench and there are 2 covers, under one of them is the top of the fuel tank pump, you can unclip the wiring connection, and to make life easy remove the fuel lines. You'll likely want some jubilee clips for refitting as they will probably snap. The cap holding the pump unscrews and you can lift it out and the float sensor should be obvious, see if it moves freely. :y:

If the warning light is still coming on, then I think it is far more likely that your cluster is faulty!

Hi and welcome to the forum. :)
Humour me and try disconnecting your battery for 20 minutes and then reconnecting it. Is the gauge still the same?
