Apologies for my lack of understanding here. I moved away with work for just under 12 months. My mk2 vtr hasnt moved in that time and no one was at home to start it regularly. Stupid i know.

When i try and start it the igntion works to the second click, but i dont hear any electronic sound like i used to, presuming that is the fuel pump.

Then when i try to start it i just get one click from the start motor.

I have also tried to bump start it but the front wheels just lock.

My (Uneducated) guess is that the engine is seized, but the lack of electronic sound on the second click makes me think it might be more than this.

Also the boot catch wont release, and on the wild chance this might be related i thought that i would throw it in here.

Sounds possible. Could be seized.

With a freshly charged battery on the ignition second position do you hear the fuel pump prime? Do you get the "normal" amount of lights on the dash?

I doubt that would stop the engine turning to the stage it locks the wheels when bumping.

Can you jack the car up and spin the wheels with it in/out of gear?

It rolls in neutral but won't budge in gear. A lad at work suggested trying to crank it by hand with the spark plugs out so there is no compression.

Yeah I'd give that a try. It does sound like it's seized tbh. Or something is anyways.

You haven't locked the cam/crank and forgotten about it?

Alternator seized?

Haven't touched it since the day I stopped using it. I don't think it's the alternator. That wouldn't stop it cranking

I work on classics that are generally parked up over winter, had a couple that won't turn over because the alternator has seized, remove belt and rock it in gear, what have you got to lose?
