Went to France for a wee holiday and visit the family. Great time had etc..

But it really shows you how much we get raped with fuel duty- plus vat on the fuel duty- when I was filling up at the equivalent of £1.00 per litre. Thats with the exchange rate being not bad, but not great.

And the roads are all smooth as fuck, cambered in corners and constructed with adequate drainage. Five minutes back on the British roads and I wanted to kill myself.

I'm in the states on a regular basis which is even worse mate. Roads are well maintained and hardly any tolls. unbelievable really. I mean, we're talking less than 60p a litre for petrol. Filled up my girlfriends golf for £20

I tried to explain this to many people, ripoff fuel duty (not to mention other expenses) then you get to drive on third world roads. If we could compare pounds to euros over here, it would mean we're paying over €2.00 per litre. 80% tax.

This is part of why the powers that be do not want to hear about the euro, otherwise a whole nation would see how much we pay for stuff over here. They don't want to admit the British pound is weak as shit.

Yea but theres alot of toll rods over there.

I drove from Brittany to Calais without using them lol, all the roads were brilliant.

No shitting, I drove on roads in the back of beyond, small villages roads that were far superior to our motorways.

True Gareth, I was in the states about a while back, had a Camaro (new shite one) as a hire car and couldnt get more than $15 of fuel in it unless I blasted the tank dry.

It also seems to that a lot of places abroad are not only well maintained but a darn site cleaner too.it puts us to shame.

Yea but theres alot of toll rods over there.

This tbh. I drove from Dieppe to Le Mans for the race back in June and through the night when it's bloomin' cold, the last thing you want to do is keep having to jump out of the car to pay the French to use their roads. May be just me being old though haha.

Roads are much better though as said. Didn't notice any difference with the fuel though. Filled up before I left and topped up about £30 for the drive home. 106 drinks like George Best these days and it's not my daily anymore anyway so mehhhhh lol.

Ha! I hired a mustang (shit v6 convertible) and nailed it everywhere. Still made a good noise and was cheaper on fuel than my Toyota iQ was here.

I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries. Prrrrfrrfrfffrfrfffffrrrrrr. Rrrrrrffrrrr.

Would you like to discuss again about those potholes maintained by non-wankers, and how much petrol tax is these days. What about that British bloke who introduced the first private road (with a toll) because the council can't be arsed repairing a stretch of road, he was hailed as a genius entrepreneur last time I checked :drink:

I got from Dunkirk to Switzerland via Luxembourg and didn't pay single toll until I got to Switzerland

And a tank of fuel was 60 euro
