I'm getting a new present off my father soon. Car is registered in his name... Probably will stay in his name.
For the last few years I've been a named driver on it as well, just in case I needed to play drunken taxi for him.

With regards to NCB as a named driver, If I then become the main driver, have the policy in my name, I'll carry my named driver NCB over ( 2 years )

As the insurance would obviously be quite high, if I were to say take out a new with a different insurer... a much cheaper insurer a month down the line. Would I then have the 2 years NCB in my name? If that makes sense.

Do you get NCB as a named driver like?

WTF?

*edit, ohhhhh it's only with that insurer, that makes more sense

Basically, named driver NCB is only valid with the insurance company you gained it with. So if you go to a new insurer you'll have zero no claims.

And if you go as a named driver, for say a year, when you moved insurer, you would only have 1 year, not 3..
