Kyles Clio 197

Decided to upgrade from the Vts after it failed the MOT on the rear beam and a few other things!

Was looking at ibiza cupras and civic ek4s but then decided i wanted something a little newer/more comfortable for day to day driving, i then narrowed it down to clio 197s or a corsa Vxr.
after looking at the relevant forums to see how reliable etc they were i was put off of the vxr along with the fact that you see them everywhere haha.

i then seen an ultra red 197 with recaros that looked stunning in the pics so took the long trip to see it. looked as good in person as it did in the pics!!!!
sounded great on startup and after test driving it and finding out just how good it handles i decided to part with my cash.

so far only things ive done are Piperx Panel filter and black Renault badges.

got a few things planned though.

I didn't buy it for the mpg though! Would've bought a diesel otherwise.
I get 26mpg roughly around town, 29 mixed with motorway.

Think the corsa vxr/focus st-2 gets similar mpg figures

The 172 / 182 can do 40mpg.. My 182 stayed around 33mpg mostly town driving.. 26mpg from a 2.0na is pitifull at best..

That said.. They look awesome.. I love the interiors.. I love the fun they give out and handle like its on rails!!

I'd love a LY or RB 197 with an F4RT in.. Bet they are a right hoot!!

I only do 80-100 miles a week anyway!
I badly wanted a ph1 172 but good ones hardly ever came up and I didn't want to wait forever!

So after seeing a how to guide on fitting a Powerflex upper torque mount and seeing how easy it is, I thought I would order myself one up!

This is pretty much the same as mine, and for the reason above I keep putting it forsale but can never bring myself to sell it!

24mpg from a 2.0 n/a is dreadful. I get 18mpg from a 5.4 V12...

i get over 30mpg in my golf gti (2.0 turbo) and i only do short journeys and spirited driving lol can gt 45mpg on long journeys, i was looking at 197's but decided on the golf so i can get some cheap turbo powah 250bhp is easily got with a few hundred £'s hate to think how much it would cost to get an n/a car there.

my mate has some diamond stitched recoaros in his 197 they look so nice!

If it is, i bought a BMW Compact off a bloke from that street a couple of years back. Lived in the flats a few yards up.
