Hi what is ment by tapered and non taped struts?

The inside of the hub where the driveshaft fits, there are 2 types, tapered and non-tapered.
So the end of the driveshaft the is splined, that goes into the hub is either tapered, ie gets smaller towards the end, or its not tapered, ie stays the same size.
