Car (1.1 106) has developed an odd grinding noise when slowing down in 2nd, or lifting off the throttle.

It only happens for a second or two, and seems to stop after that, but it may happen in short bursts if I leave it to slow down in second from 3k to 1.5k for example. However it does it immediately every time I lift off over 2.5k ish, for example when changing up I can hear it.

Doesn't seem to happen in any other gear but recently reverse has become a twat to select sometimes, if that's of any coincidence?

Sounds like gearbox/diff problem. Check oil level first probably

I'll have a check tomorrow, but I replaced the driveshafts in the summer so it isn't long since I put fresh oil in. And I only noticed it for the first time today

Maybe in changing the shafts you damaged an oil seal and its leaking out slowly and have got too low?

Already had a good look underneath and there isn't any sign of a leak
