After putting a vtr in my desire the rev counter doesnt work, the speedo doesnt work, the temperature gauge doesnt work the handbrake and air bag lights are constantly on. The only thing that does work is the fuel gauge.
I originally thought it was the 1.1 clocks causing the issue so i bought some new vtr clocks and still the same issues.
this is really bugging me

What loom are you using op?

im using the loom that came with the engine, with my original interior loom.

if there is an issue with the wiring, could it be where the big circular plug for the interior loom is , i noticed there were some wires from the engine loom connected to the male plug where they join into the female plug with no wires coming out the other side.

could it be an ecu problem?

okay so i think my issue is the pins for the inner wing plug dont match up. Is it easy to change around the pins in these plugs or should i just bodge a wire around it or get another plug, does any one know the wires i need to match up meaning anyone got a pinout?

Well, you could do it yourself, but here's the snag.

The colours don't match up.

As in, blue wire on your interior loom doesn't go to the blue wire on your engine loom.

Pins and wires are all numbered.

Basically, you're stuffed without totally overhauling the loom, or using the original loom from your car on the VTR engine (which will work if you swap a few sensors and bits over)

The above is the easiest way to go about it,unless you want to make work for yourself?

one more thing, if i do decide to just put my 1.1 loom onto the vtr, what sensors will i have to change?

CALLUMSAMUELS

I deliberately didn't answer your post above :P

The looms for the engine sensors are virtually identical.

yeah only thing was the temp sensor on the thermostat housing, was a 3 pin instead of the 2 pin, literally just swapped the plugs
