View Full Version : Starting up in the cold mornings

Not sure if it's just since it's been cold or an issue my Saxo has now developed.

I guess every time I have to start it up in mornings I had to give it a rev just to get it up there, its like its initially sticky. I do keep it under a car port over night though, so wonder sometimes if I kept it out on street whether it might need more revs to start it or could possibly stall... This was never an issue about a year ago, would just turn over every time even in bitter conditions.

Could be idle valve, might just need a service, ie new plugs, or could be losing compression through head gasket

How old is the battery?

Did have a recent service done on it and gasket change so don't think it's them ! Might be ICV was considering changing and have one that I've bought but never ended up changing

As far as I'm aware, quite old.

Cleaning the icv is free, but i doubt it will do anything.
My bet is the battery can't produce enough power to start it up when cold
