Hi all,

With insurance costs and because of the fact that I would like to do the conversion myself, I was looking at getting another Furio. Either Icelandic blue, which is my preferred colour or black as black shines up nice.

I've come across one on AutoTrader, just under £4,000, 22,000 miles, black and I think it is still available. It already has a set of alloys (Which I would drop and get black alloys) but it seems she has already been lowered. I want to learn about lowering myself.

Just wondering what you think about getting a Furio that is already lowered and has some alloys, ripping off the alloys and sticking new ones on and taking a look at how it is lowered (Getting smaller alloys, they look 16", I was looking at 15") and possibly re-lowering it for the experience. What do you think?

you could get a vts on that miles for that price, thats what i think

doesnt matter if its already been lowered and has alloys, you can sell off alloys if you dont want them, i wouldnt re lower if just to get experience jsut leave it

As Yate5s said for that price you could get a vtr/s on that milage!

Furios hold their price veyr well but i would go for the VT

Being that I have had a crash the insurance would be sky high...

what insurance group is a furio? is it a 5? that sticks in my head, if thats the case, then vtr is only 2 more groups, worth i look i would think

Adrian Flux can't insure me for some reason however Quin Direct who seem pretty damn good in terms of modding have said my insurance will be £3,245.00 on a Furio and £3,736.00 on a VTR.

Not good at all. If I get a shitty little run around car I can afford the insurance but I want my Furio back, or a VTR. Typical isn't it. £5,000 to spend and I have to fork out most of it on Insurance.

However, those quotes were based on no claims details being given to me from my current insurance company, Direct Line.

That's fully comp.

I myself would never pay over £3k on insurance for a 1.4... especially a Furio.

Quiksilvers are nice little cars... Same performance figures as a Furio but not as common. Hold their value better as well with being a kind of "limited edition" car.

That's what I get for crashing, 'eh.

If I could get hold of another £2,000 I think I would be ok. I would have to skimp the car a little bit in terms of mileage but would be fully comp and could get a VTR. Just finding £2k isn't an easy task.

Don't want any other car other than a Saxo I'm afraid. They're just too gorgeous.

The 106 is basically a Saxo... It's nicer and doesn't carry the stereotypical "boy-racer" or "chav" image.

Do you mind me asking, why did you crash? Your fault or not?

I was in the center lane of a Dual Carriage way (3 lanes), just leaving somewhere with lots of stuff on my mind (Just got back to work half time from being signed off for 6 weeks due to lots of problems -- mainly my mind racing with stuff). Possibly shouldn't have even thought about driving.

In the center lane which was clear ahead, for some reason decided to go into left lane and didn't see the big red Royal Mail truck in the lane. Was going about 60 and hit the breaks, hit it at about 45.

So yeah, classed as my fault. No one other than me and my baby was hurt.

I've another quote for a Saxo Furio. £1,600 for the first 6 months and then after that it is as if my accident is exempt and acts as a 1 years no claims. 30% discount and more discount for carrying on with this company. They allow mods. Should be about £2,000 for second year and drop even more after.

Best quote so far I guess, though Quinn Direct have offered me insurance for £3,700.00, free cosmetic mods on a VTR.

I really do want a VTR but with £5,000.00 I need to get a new car and pay some of the insurance. I can afford £130.00/month insurance which is £1300.00 when paying monthly, now say I find a car for £3,000.00 - £3,500.00 that will result in £1,500.00 - £2,000.00 extra for insurance despot. So could possibly afford £2,800.00 - £3,300.00 on insurance. Not too bad I guess.

Hell my baby might not be written off but based on the pics a lot of people (Garages) have said it looks like a class C write off?

Anymore recommendations on insurance companies?

i would never pay that much for insurance on a saxo! thats a huge amount.

have you looked at quotes on a third party basis? could save a little bit and as long as your carefull it should be alrite!

Just got a quote from MCE. £1,996.00/year on a VTR, they allow all mods (Of course, at a price but cosmetic mods are pretty cheap) so I think I have found a winner.

Will find out about my car today at some point but if written off I can look at a VTR.

Thanks for all the help lads and ladies.
