Hi guys I am just after a bit of advice, I am thinking of buying a used saxsport system but the back box has a dent in it, my question is: does the dent hinder the performance or sound? Also if I could manage to pull the dent out would it be back to normal? I.E if the sound and performance was affected by dent.

haha, I know the seller, it sounds fine, was on a rally car and did about half a dozen events, came off the hangers once when the lower engine mount ripped out of the shell!

oh great stuff :), just wanted to make sure that if I did buy it I wont have to get rid and find a better on or buy new.

I wouldn't buy it to be honest.
Neither would I. Yeh a small dent wouldn't bother me, but that dent is so big its changed the shape of the box.

how come mate?
I wouldn't call it a "slight" dent,it makes it look shit and it's not worth 60£ anyway,sorry.

That's not a dent, that's a fucking canyon. Would not touch with barge pole etc. Saw one of those last week on ebay, bids started at 0.99 with a few hours left.
KamRacing

Its thin enough metal it could easily be pulled out.
Manu

Still, barge pole etc. As above, saw a perfectly, not damaged one, £0.99 with just hours left to go bid

not always going to be so cheap but I do see your point....
Guys do you think it could have damaged the baffles or anything inside, honestly I don't care if the dent is cosmetic like kam racing said it can be pulled out. :)

Some of the performance rear boxes actually don't have baffles mate.
ahh ok, I don't know if I should risk buying it and then just getting the dent pulled out.
If it is just a dent, when its been pulled out you wont know it was there.

There are no baffles, only a perforated tube running through the box. Its squashed the wadding basically.
Okay I think I am just gonna risk it :), once the exhaust has the dent pulled out and has been fitted I will let you know if it's staying on or giving it away ha

its probably worth a go for 60 if it goes for that id say, you could probably pull most of the dent out with a suction cup or something like that
Yeh mate that's what I was thinking
Well guys I won it for £72 and getting courier to pick up. Will keep you informed on what it sounds like etc after it being fitted :)
welshpug

it was only changed due to a higher spec engine iirc, its running 20+bhp more than it was, was running 170
Ahh ok, all is well then pal :) just I have to wait 10 days for fitting now as that's when my next day off is lol

Right exhaust is on and first thing is it's quieter than the system I had one before, also it doesn't pop as much.
I am just wondering if the exhaust needs to bed in for a few days or is it just that the saxsport is quieter in general.
I miss my pops and bangs lol.

its very strange, I have seen and heard the same year saxo, same exhaust, same engine
all the same as mine but my mates pops and bangs but mine does not.
WHY NOT LOL.

Some just don't pop, his could be over-fueling etc. etc.

I am correct that one lambda sensor (the blue plug) goes into my manifold leaving one lambda sensor with nowhere to plug in, so I would have to get a blanking sleeve yeh?
what about if the lambda sensor with the green plug in screwed into the manifold leaving the blue plug lambda with the blanking sleeve?
what am trying to say is which lambda sensor should be plugged into the manifold and which should be blanked with a sleeve?
cheers

luck of the draw. 8vs generally dont do it unless its a once of the higher spec units

I think I will be putting my old exhaust back on lol that made loud pops and bangs.
The only reason I changed is because I thought the saxsport would have been better.

That's what it sounded like with a piper exhaust, no silencer and de cat.
Popped all the time lol

Probably because it's so dented! Don't they sound like that anyway though?
edit: I thought the vid was of the new exhaust
Mr4

Not worth it mate, it's a lot quieter and a lot less raspy.
When car is warmed up it doesn't rasp at all
