Sump plug

Hi any body know the size of a saxo vtr 2002 sump plug I know it's 8mm square but what size hex is it got told it was 22mm bought a socket its too small any one know Haynes book does not give size.

The size varies.

Mine is 21mm.

Take the socket back and swap it for one the right size, it'll be 23.

I would be very surprised if it's bigger than 23.

Why not use the 8mm square?

My sump plug uses a hex bit rather than the 8mm square.

ah so it's a replacement sump plug anyway, so could be any size.

If you mean my car, It is the original sump plug that was fitted when the car was new. I know as I've owned the car from new and it has never been serviced by anyone else but, me. It is hexagonal with a hexagonal whole in the centre too.
