Yo.
Apparently Michelin don't do the Exaltos in 195/45/15 anymore?!
So, I guess my question is who does a DECENT tyre in that size? I loved the Michy's, great grip and lasted forrrrrrrrrrrever :n:

I've only had experience with Toyo T1-r's. I think there pretty good but I think the general consensus these days are there not all that. Poor in the wet and wear quickly although I disagree (but I don't drive "hard" in the wet).
Names that I remember people having are Uniroyal rainsport 2's, Yokohama s-drives and Goodyear eagle f1's. I'm sure there are plenty of other options these are just off the top of my head.

My T1R's have nearly killed me a few times in the wet so once this set are dead I'm looking to jump onboard the Uniroyal boat

T1R here too, pretty cheap for what you get. But agree in the wet they're not the best.
Still I don't use my motor too much so is have them again.

I've been using Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2's on my A3 for the last 6 months/15,000 miles.
They seem to be wearing well, I think I've got around ~4.5mm of tread left, and have no complaints at all about the performance in the wet.
Although, I'm not sure you can get the AS2's in 195/45/15?
EDIT:
H'actually, Tyreleader are still showing stock of the Exalto's?

Recycled condom tyres ftw.
Don't see this hype about branded tyres being good. Can't say I've felt the need to go around a corner fast and test them out on the road.
If you're driving sensibly you shouldn't see a difference unless you are driving something with a lot ponies or torque.

who the feck drives a saxo sensibly?!
Decent brand tyres are well worth the extra, you don't need to be driving like a tit to make use of the far superior emergency braking performance, especially in the wet.
they also last a lot longer, use less fuel, make less noise.

so is this bullshit then?
The Toyo Proxes T1-R boasts a special performance compound and tread pattern which gives incredible road holding in all conditions, especially in the wet. The V-Shaped grooves in the tread pattern pump water away allowing the rubber to grip the road. These are bounded by circumferential grooves which allow the Proxes T1-R to give you even better wet grip whilst being quieter and longer lasting.

ysp, its marketing speak for please buy our stuff.
Personally I wouldn't buy Toyos again, barely lasted 6-7k - wasn't impressed at all.

you cannot have life and grip tyres get grip by leaving rubber behind
always a compromise --and 7k is not bad -- when i raced it wa a goodyear sponsored series ,so we had to use nct3 ,s --they lasted 400 miles - so if you drive it hard you gonna use tyres
as for wet -- you need deep grooves -so any dry weather track day tyre is not going to be the best in the wet les groves and not as deep
true wet weather tyres lke the avon sp28s sport are magic in the wet ,but overheat in the dry and feel squiggy ----lots of blocks and deep tread
