Hi,
The first spark plug recently blew through the coil pack and damaged the rocker cover, while I've located the parts, the only thing I'm not sure about, is the rethreading of the hole for the spark plug hole. Does anyone know anything I could do myself or cheap methods of fixing it as I'm going to be selling the car due to a new family

Thanks for any help

You could rethread it with a helicoil kit, not sure if that's suitable for spark plug holes though to be honest..

Noooo don't re-thread.

Spark plugs you must use helicoil inserts.

there is NO other safe way to do it. You'll only end up damaging the head.

I'm probably going to have to find a garage to do it but if I could do it myself, I'd give it a bash

Probably would be cheaper to source a second hand head and replace.

Cost me £300 labour and a few days to get a garage to helicoil it.

Would be cheaper to do HG, cambelt and fit a new head

don't risk it, second hand heads are cheap enough to not even think twice about it. Helicoils are good but i wouldn't when you could get a head so cheaply

I only did it out of desperation as couldn't source a roller rocker head (98hp) in time.

This was going back about 4 years mind

Managed to find a garage that'll re thread it for about £100 so not as bad as I expected. Just not looking forward to selling her after 5-6 years
