Basically in a pickle when it comes to the ABS on my Xantia. As far as I can diagnose, the front sensors are dead. Finding replacements, however, isn't easy. X2 sensors are pennies at the moment, but phase ones are different and the cheapest i've found is £70 each. I plan on tracking some down but at the moment i've got until the 10th to find and fit some!
Now, the MOT docs read that if the ABS system is rendered inoperative completely (ie, removed except for stuff like reluctor rings) it won't fail.
But how far does this involve going? The ABS on the Xant' is fairly simple but the brake lines, obviously, run through the abs block itself. Is it enough to remove the sensors and computer and the fuse so that the only ABS left is the unit itself, or will I also have to remove the unit and run new lines? As if its the former then theres little else for her to fail on.
I will, of course, reverse it all as soon as I find some reasonably priced sensors or bend over and get shafted by Citroen for OEM ones.
