Missus has a 1.1 W reg Saxo. and has just phoned to say she cant get any gears, as in, 'the gear stick is loose'. Cant select any gears at all.
I'm not aware that the clutch was going or anything.
I did do a forum search but wi-fi isnt the best where I am right now and it just hung for ages.
Hoping you are going to suggest its a cheap repair that I can do myself.
Thanks for any replies.

If the gearstick is flapping around and feels like it's not really connected to anything than yeah it's more than likely a linkage. cheap and easy to sort out.

Not something I'd be able to refit roadside though I'd imagine?
Tow car home and get on ramps kind of thing? Be handy to get it going even with a temp repair if needed.
Thanks for the quick replies, really appreciated.

You can fix it at the road side if you have the parts (linkage rods) you'll probably be able to pop the old one back on until you get them replaced. They'll just be worn.
If you remove the air box you'll be able to get at them.

if they've come off once they'll do it again soon enough so new linkages is the only option. You may be able to bodge something together with cable ties though as a get you home "fix"

Yes, spot on, one of the balls had come out of its socket. Pops straight back out again so ordered a set of rods from ebay, £20.
Thanks again for the very fast replies.
