So I've bought a 2001 Y reg Saxo VTR. I absolutely Love it. Has breathed joy back into driving.

First of all, let me tell you that I am a COMPLETE noob when it comes to cars and won't pretend otherwise. It is my hope that being honest from the start will be rewarded with honest help.

Anyway, the car is fitted with a Sigma Alarm (which means nothing to me) for which I have the fob for. This locks and unlocks the car, this I know.. The alarm works fine. The car has been fine locking and unlocking up until today...,

There are no problems in locking the car, fine, it locks and arms the alarm. However when I open the car, the drivers side door catch opens as it should but the passengers side does not. It tries to open, but seems to get stuck and results in me having to unlock it with the key. This has only started happening today, seemingly random. Can anyone please help me for things to check or point out the obvious (to someone who knows their stuff) to me please?

Pop the doorcard off & see if the door button is moving freely. If it is with the card removed then it's getting stuck on the doorcard.

Hi and thanks for replying to my question! Is the door card the inside trim? Is it removable with a screw etc? Pardon my noobiness!

Yes the plastic panel inside the car, thinks there's a guide somewhere on here explaining how to remove it.First part of this guide explains how to.

Hi mate and thanks for the reply. I've taken off the door card. The door lever thing that goes down and is supposed to pop up is very, very loose and moves side to side. Is it supposed to be like this or solid? Tomorrow I will go out and test if the button goes up (with the door card off). What do I do either way if it does go up or don't? Thanks

The button does wobble they're all like it and nothing to worry about.

So if the catch goes up and down without a problem
With the door card removed, what shall I do?

Just an update. So after removing the door card when I press the alarm to open the car the button springs up, so it must be getting caught on the door card to stop it from unlocking.

How do i fix this now?

Thanks

Remount the doorcard carefully so that it doesn't foul the button.
