View Full Version : Water leaks into boot!

Anyone got some tips to help me out? I've tried sealing the rear window, under the hatch seal with silicone, covering the holes in the boot lid itself due to the car being stripped out, sealed along the inside of the window from inside the tailgate, sealed the rear badges in, holes drilled in lower of rear hatch to let water out. Must be very gradual as it doesn't do it right away when a hose is put on it.
Water doesn't seem to be coming over or under the hatch seals but seems to always be running along the floor towards the beam mounting holes.

Get someone to run the hosepipe over it while you're in the car and see if you can find out where its getting in

It's a difficult one this. Haven't tried the hose trick yet but I did go and sit in the boot when it was bucketing it down the other day, proper heaviest ran we've had for a while. I noticed that water was dripping in from the inside of the tailgate, when stripped out the plastic trim you'll see 4 large openings of the tailgate into the area between the skins. So I filled up the inside of this up where the glass is with silicone. That didn't work, even though the silicone felt dry and not wet so anyway last night I covered these openings with duct tape to see if the water stopped, thinking it won't make it through the tape. Been pouring here again today - still got water in the boot. Short of changing the hatch seal for new and replacing the window glass/tailgate itself I'm all out of ideas, other than it leaking in via the roof/shell seams. Pain in the arse water leaks :(

These kits that make white smoke from the inside the car must be handy, have no idea where to get them and how much they cost though.

Alright mate, I've been getting water in the boot. Last week my mate had my rear wheel off and had a poke around. When I said what's that he said your boot carpet. Might be worth. A look. Found the leak
