Is there such thing as a quieter back box?

OK, so I've ruined my saxo. I put in a straight through centre section (Hoffmann mild steel) and now all I hear is a deep roar coming out of my 3" piper back box. Seriously, the thing is just loud! I've still got my mani cat in and just wondering if I changed the back box would I be able to reduce the noise? Obvious answer is to go back to stock. But just wondering if you guys know if there is another option out there that'll reduce the noise? Smaller bore to a 2" maybe?

SuperSprint Magnum is pretty quite if you're able to get hold of one,I had straight trough with it and it still silenced massively.

You'll know more about this than me, so please don't take this as an 'I know better' kinda post - not intended to.

But just wondering about this as it sounds like something which contradicts itself - surely a straight through is unsilenced, and something which has a silencer isn't a straight through? No?

Not for one minute saying you're wrong - just curious more than anything else :)

its the construction and design of the silencer, look at an o.e silencer and you wont be able to poke anything through it, a "Performance" silencer has an uninterrupted perforated tube you could see down.

Had a 106 that was so quiet, people would cross in front of me because they did not hear the car.
