View Full Version : Grinding noise under aggressive launch

This is a weird one, the car drives absolutely fine until you accelerate hard and it wheel spins, in the wet it's okay, but if it dry and the wheels spin and it Gains traction again it grinds like the car isn't in gear properly, it does this in second gear aswell, so it's not an issue with first. But it can be felt through the floor and it's really loud as if the car isn't in gear, absolutely fine under spirited driving but if the wheels break traction then grabs grip again that's when it does it, ease off power and back on its fine, i have suspicion of the splines on the driveshaft into the box rounding off and slipping but want a few more opinions before throwing money into it

Inspect the CV, then go deeper if you have to. Could be box

I'd put my money on the inner CV joint. That happened to me, eventually had no drive to the offside wheel.

If you are launching like that I suspect you will find that you have no teeth on the driveshaft as it Goes into 1 of the CV's & it's spinning, by the time you get to 3rd you don't have the power to make it do it.

Okay guys thank you I changed the offside driveshaft today and it's still got the same issue so I'll replace the near side one and hopefully solves it
