View Full Version : Important! : 2 problems need resolving please help identify my problems

Ok so coming home tonight come across a few strange problems.

1 When engaging gear or shifting gears am getting a odd squeak from engine bay. Is this engine mounts or gearbox mount or some other rubbers that have warn like Anti roll bar bushes etc how can I identify what ones it is as it only happens now n then. Tried rocking car side to side no sound tried pushing back and forth but no sound only seems happen if a shunt or gear change or so.

2 When applying brakes or coming to a slow stop am getting a creaking sound like a door opening that needs oil putting on hinges.

So anyone got any ideas to what cause could be?

I'd say the springs on the fitting kit between cat converter and middle pipe, the movement from the engine between gear changes as you press/depress the clutch can make it squeak. [edit: cat to front pipe as you have a vts] Give a quarter of a turn on both nuts and clean the dirt out.

2. do you feel like your brakes are funny when driving on it, as in do you have to pump them to get some braking or not. Have you tried some copper grease?

Braking is fine on them its just when i come to a slow stop gives a wired sound on them. But I will get the odd feel like somthing cort between them like a crunch but have checked all round and disc and pads are all fine along with pipe work seeming good too so I dont get what the cause is to that or the odd noise.

The kit that is has a decat system installed now and the parts you said for the springs are new and greased up. The squeak is more from engine section but cant make exactly where is coming from. Maybe have get into garage and get looked at.
