View Full Version : VTr Conversion not running

Hi all, cheeky for a first post, my apologies
I'm most of the way through a VTR conversion on a 106, currently using a full Saxo wiring loom, clocks, relays, ECU and fuel relay, but I have a biiiiiig problem: it's not fuelling or firing.
From what I can see the only thing missing from one loom to the other is the 'crash reset switch', which I think may solve my issues. Anyone know where this should be plugged in? I can't find a plug for it. Or is it that I have a different issue I might be unaware of?
Many thanks all
Matt

Did you fit the saxo interior loom?
Does the fuel pump run when you turn on the ignition?
If the fuel pump runs, do you KNOW for certain that the injectors are injecting fuel? How did you check for no spark?
Immobiliser faults would be: Fuel pump primes, no fuel injected AND no spark.

The whole car is running on a saxo loom, that was the next thing changed after the engine/loom/ecu
The fuel pump doesn't run, or prime, it's running a pump relay that definitely works. The fuel pump runs continually when connected to a different relay ('03 independence brown one) so I know the pump works
I cannot say if the injectors are injecting, due to not testing that since having the ecu unlocked.
Checked for no spark by having the spark plug in the coil pack, connected to a good earth, and turning the engine over
This is as far as we've got, I will try to find out more tomorrow once I've put the ECU back in.
Many thanks

Yeah that crash reset switch is an important one ,it completes the circuit from ignition switch to the ecu and energises the side of the fuel relay that powers the injectors, ignition coil and the fuel pump

Right Furioman, that's what I'd thought, but I can't find where it plugs in. I've had the 2 wiring looms out and next to eachother trying to sort it but I can't see where the plug is? Is there one I've missed? Whereabouts on the loom is it on a Saxo?
Many thanks

The button is normally situated behind the battery on the bulkhead near the servo, so you need to be looking in that area.

Finally found the remains of the wires the button should be connected to, so wired up the switch off the old loom with some crimps.
This hasn't fixed the issue.
I'm going to strip the loom and see if any other wires are missing anywhere, but in the meantime is there anything else I should be looking for?
Desperate to get her on the road now, and off my mate's driveway
Many thanks

So there are no wires missing from the loom, everything lines up as it should, and I'm still getting nothing.
Any ideas past this point will be warmly welcomed
Thanks

You checked for continuity in the loom? and obvious one you reset the crash switch?

When I put the JP4 into the VTS the one I missed was the main lead to the ECU onto the starter motor, on the motor there is a large lead coming from the battery & then another going under the inlet over towards the ECU, worth a look.
