I need to remove the black door strips for painting. On an 02 model how are they fitted and what would be the best way to remove them?

Just cliped on mate, the stripes are 2 panels.. simply pull them off. To be safe i would order new clips for them all from citroen then you definatlly wont have it falling of in the future.

The rear panel is actually the rear arch, and the front panel is the bottom of the door. There is one clip what is screwed in to the rear panel so dont go pulling to hard if it dosent come out.

I'm eventualy gonna take mine off, maybe around the time I get the back smoothed. Only thing is I aint sure if it'll be ok since my mate (Who's a really big petrol head) was sayin that basicaly they're there for a reason; Cause that's where you get the most paint chips from stones n shit via the wheels.. iunno..

i think your mates been sniffing petrol

bump strips are there to stop bumps basically, like doors hitting off n things like that, they stick out the furthest on the car, so they will be hit first by things

Mine had to be removed to do the colour coding... Yes they are "meant" to be clipped on but I think you'll find a lot arent. When mine were removed, they had been glued as well as clipped so to remove them (prize them away from the actual doorcard), they had to be broken/snapped and new ones ordered (which are NOT cheap).

If you gave the car to a company/bodyshop to do then if they break it, they have to pay for it. However, if you done the work yourself and you broke up, start saving for new doorcards and rub/bump strips.

Its not expensive at a bodyshop. Let them do it. the bodyshop that fitted my new front bumper, smoothed boot, and new bonnet did my colour coding on the bump strips for free. With the spare paint etc.

Same, its just a simple case of masking off :)
