Right ive been given a new works phone for my job. Its a samsung galaxy a7. Theyre not even out in this country apparently.

Its got a app on it to use instead of getting paperwork everyday. Its a decent phone tbh and i was thinking about just cancelling my contract and sellIng my iphone 6s seeing that itll save me £40 a month.

However when i got given the phone the lad told us all of this bull shit that they can go through everything on the phone whenever they want including messages and facebook. Apparently i cant have anything negative or any porn on it n all that or ill get sacked. He told it someone was watching porn on his and they got onto his camera n caught him with his cock in his hand. Obviously bollocks tbh haha. Thing is i get a few messages that arent actually suitable for work haha.

So whats the laws on privacy with this. Surely they cant just go looking through all your private stuff without asking you? Its remote assistance on the phone btw

I would assume your working practice's would apply the same to your work phone as they would to a work PC and any other work related item. If your thinking of using it to replace your own phone I would double check your permitted to even use it for personal call, text and data. But yes, there phone and they have informed you so they can check it.

Utter horse shit, I signed the same thing on company material aka laptop, phone, tablet, vehicle etc. I've worked for 3 companies in 12 years, they never came back for their laptops or phones but they did monitor what you did on the laptops. Phones, my bill for the last 4 years was capped at $80 w month for unlimited calls and data anywhere in the world with T mobile, brilliant deal

In closing, fuck them

Wellll, it's not though is it.

Any decent company is going to use some sort of MDM platform to ensure their phones actually work and people don't fuck them, causing extra work.

So they may monitor him, and it's not his phone really:y:

Use privately owned devices for your private communications. Simple.

Pretty sure this is what you are on about:

EDIT: While not exactly the same as your issue, it highlights the fact that they can do whatever they want, thanks to brussels

Ah well cheers lads. Decided to just keep my phone. Can't be arsed with all the hassle with bellends goin through my phone lol. Someone at works sold his phone so I'll see how he gets on I suppose.

If some of the stuff you get sent from mates through whatsapp is similar to what I get sent, you REALLY don't want that being on your work phone! lol

I used to provide application support for a company that did mobile device management.

You could get any information from a smartphone, GPS tracking, battery %, signal strengh, texts, calls, if it has been rooted/jailbroken, all media on the device, they can access the camera, microphone... literally anything.

The phone is not your phone, it is a company phone that they allow employees to use.

This is what I was afraid of tbh but surely they can't just access your camera whenever they want. There's got to be laws against this. What if I'm having a shit and playing on my phone lol

You seem to be having issues understanding that this is not your toy for your personal use & that it is a work tool. If you want to play whilst having a shit or receive inappropriate texts/images from your friends get yourself your own personal phone.

I'm not sure that you do, you still seem very indignant that they are putting restrictions on something you seem to covert

Nah I don't really care now I'm not using it for personal stuff anymore. I just don't think it'll be legal for them to go onto your camera to spy on you whenever they want.

Put a sticker over both cameras!
